have an opening for a Distribution Engineer in our Burnaby office.\n\nResponsibilities:\nTechnical review of electric utility distribution design packages, including drawings, material take-offs, and calculations.\nSealing of electric utility distribution design drawings.\nTechnical mentorship of engineers and technologists.\nElectrical and civil design of underground and overhead electric utility infrastructure.\nMaterial take-offs and project estimating.\nVoltage drop and transformer loading calculations.\nCable pull calculations using Pull Planner.\nPole modeling calculations using SPIDAcalc and PLS-CADD.\nReviewing engineering consultant drawings such as civil, buildings electrical, landscape, and architectural to coordinate and eliminate design conflicts.\nProject schedule management and tracking.\nResearch and application of engineering standards and codes.\nCollaboration with the project team (project managers, designers, drafters, engineers of record, and field inspectors) to ensure projects are executed successfully.\nDesign coordination with external clients, engineering consultants, utility approval teams, municipalities, material and construction suppliers, and other stakeholders.\nCreating design redlines in Bluebeam.\nLeading continuous improvement initiatives and updating tools, processes, documentation, and automation.\nPeriodic off-site meetings, site visits, and field inspections.\n\nQualifications:\nEngineering or Applied Science degree or diploma from a recognized university or college (electrical or civil preferred).\nP.Eng. or P.L.Eng. designation through EGBC.\nMinimum of 2 years of experience in the design of electrical utility distribution projects.\nClass 5 driver’s license.\n\n Additional Assets:\nFamiliarity with BC Hydro design and construction standards and tools.\nExposure to SPIDAcalc, PLS-CADD, Pull Planner, AutoCAD, or AGi32 software.\nExperience creating Visual Basic Application (VBA) macros in Microsoft Excel.\nDemonstrated self-motivation and drive for improvement.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop business relationships conducted in a professional manner.\nProven ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing responsibilities concurrently.\nStrong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical
