You'll lead our China-based electrical team while partnering closely with software, mechanical, and field service teams to solve hard real-world problems and design the next generation of robot control hardware.\nOur robots operate in demanding industrial environments, integrating battery systems, motor drives, sensors, networking, and embedded control electronics. This role blends system architecture, hands-on troubleshooting, and engineering leadership.\nWhat You'll Do\nElectrical Architecture & System Design\nLead design of 48V/24V power systems including power distribution, DC/DC conversion, grounding, and fault protection\nDefine power budgets, electrical safety strategies, and system-level protection schemes\nTeam Leadership\nLead and mentor the China-based electrical engineering team\nEstablish design standards for grounding, EMC, power integrity, and connector/harness reliability\nCoordinate between China engineering, US robotics teams, and manufacturing partners\nTroubleshooting & Field Reliability\nLead root-cause analysis of electrical failures in deployed robots - power instability, EMI, communication dropouts, grounding issues, and sensor failures\nTranslate engineering findings into clear repair procedures field technicians can act on quickly\nDevelop diagnostic tools and test procedures to improve fleet uptime\nPCB & Embedded Hardware\nReview and improve PCB designs for power routing, decoupling, grounding topology, signal integrity, and transient protection\nLead development of the next-generation robot controller integrating embedded computing, I/O, networking, and power distribution\nCommunication Systems\nDesign and debug industrial communication systems: Ethernet, CAN bus, RS485\nEnsure reliable communication between sensors, controllers, and embedded computers\nWhat Success Looks Like:\nImproved reliability and uptime across the current robot fleet\nStrong electrical design standards established across the China team\nNext-generation integrated robot controller delivered\nField serviceability meaningfully improved\nRequirements\nWhat You Bring\n10+ years designing complex embedded electrical systems\nDeep expertise in power distribution, DC/DC systems, grounding, EMI/EMC, and electrical reliability\nProven ability to diagnose difficult field failures using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power analyzers\nPCB design or review experience: multi-layer boards, high-current layout, power integrity\nExperience with mobile robots, AGVs/AMRs, or industrial automation equipment\nFamiliarity with Ethernet, CAN bus, and RS485/industrial protocols\nExperience leading or coordinating engineering teams, including across international sites\nClear communicator - able to translate complex technical analysis for field service teams\nBonus: Battery management systems, motor drive electronics, industrial safety standards (UL/CE/IEC), embedded firmware (C/C++)\nThe expected minimum base salary for this role is $160,000 annually, informed by external market data.
