Prince Industries is a contract manufacturer based near Chicago that machines, fabricates, finishes and assembles precision components for customers in industries ranging from hydraulics to aerospace and medical devices. Founded in 1959 by Ed Miller as a one-man shop, it now runs seven facilities across the United States and China and holds ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and AS9100 certifications for just-in-time components and high-volume assemblies. Most openings are on the shop floor for CNC machinists and setup operators on turning, milling, Swiss and twin-spindle machines, welders, grinder operators and powder coaters, plus quality inspectors, CMM programmers, supervisors and IT support.

Job Summary:

The Deburr Operator performs a variety of operations to remove burrs or sharp edges, clean surfaces on any bars or parts manufactured, prior to final inspection.

Second Shift: 2:30pm - 1:00am, Mon- Thurs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring instruments is preferred
  • Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Use belt sanders, abrasive charged wheels, fixtures, files, scrapers, solvents, and other hand tools.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance regarding set up.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations.
  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: drilling, tumbling deburring, bench operations and inspection of parts.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the PM charts.
  • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
  • Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery.
  • Assists in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment.
  • Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
  • Basic understanding and ability to follow manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
  • Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management
  • Attend scheduled meetings and actively participate by providing meaningful input.
  • Flexibility with time and schedule to assure availability to customer or company as circumstances warrant.
  • Communicates honestly, professionally, and respectfully with others and demonstrates effective listening skills.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:

  • Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques.
  • 3+ years preferred experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
  • Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work.
  • Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants/oils.
  • The noise level in the work environment is generally loud, in which hearing protection is required.

Compensation: $22-25 per hour. The final rate will be determined based on experience and a successful interview process.
