This role is based in Salt Lake City, UT and has a hybrid work model.\nJob Summary:\nProvide master level design and development expertise to the creation and maintenance of software products including training/learning platforms, applications, web pages, client portals, databases, reports and queries, and other products as requested. Takes ownership of assigned projects end to end: refining requests into well-defined problems, setting technical direction toward reusable and maintainable systems, and standing behind the integrity of what ships. Interfaces with clients, customers, and internal users to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deploy solutions. Trains other team members, provides technical leadership, and acts as a final reviewer on code changes. Creates reusable tools and processes that support our development teams and their best practices. This role operates on a hybrid work model.\nMajor Responsibilities:\nDesign and develop efficient software components for complex tasks without supervision.\nTake a high-level idea or business need, identify the underlying problem and the outcome actually wanted, and carry it through to a working, maintainable solution rather than building to the literal request.\nSteer technical direction on projects toward reusable, maintainable systems rather than one-off implementations.\nAssist in the design of application architecture, including structure, data models, and integration points, so features can be added without rework as the system grows.\nOwn the integrity of code shipped on assigned projects, serving as the responsible point of contact if something breaks.\nEffectively manage development projects and report on progress.\nEffectively troubleshoot and diagnose complex software problems. \nEnsure website designs are compliant with the major browsers. \nDesign intuitive and responsive web-based user interfaces.\nAnticipate, identify, and mitigate problem areas. \nDevelop prototypes and proofs of concept for end users. \nMeet with users to define application requirements. \nProvide direction and guidance to less experienced staff. \nConduct thorough, final-stage code reviews and give approval before changes are merged.\nPerforms testing of websites. \nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nEducation and/or Experience:\n5+ years of relevant software development experience, including 2+ years owning projects end to end: setting technical direction, refining requirements, and carrying features through launch into continuing maintenance and support.\nAble to mentor/train Software Dev I and Dev II employees.\nStrong hands-on experience across the stack: TypeScript and JavaScript with frameworks such as Vue and Nuxt, HTML and CSS screen layouts, server-side web services and APIs (including WCF), and MS SQL Server (T-SQL) and MySQL databases.\nReal-world coding experience delivering and maintaining production software, with the depth to work effectively without AI assistance.\nProven experience directing AI development tools to build and ship complex projects, not just isolated snippets or boilerplate: breaking large problems into workable pieces, supplying the right context and specifications, and iterating toward a sound design.\nAbility to critically review and validate AI-generated code, recognizing when output is incorrect, insecure, or poorly structured, and knowing the underlying technology well enough to correct it.\nSolid experience with website security and security best practices.\nAbility to write flexible, reusable, and documented code.\nStrong analytical abilities.\nStrong customer service attitude.\nProficiency with Git, including branching and pull request workflows, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve repository problems such as merge conflicts, bad merges, and damaged history.\nStrong understanding of REST architecture, and experience contributing to application-level design decisions on real projects: data models, service boundaries, and integration points, with attention to performance and long-term maintainability.\nBonus: Experience with SCORM and developing learning platforms.\nBonus: Experience with Azure (projects, web apps, blob storage, pipelines, releases, permissions).\nPhysical/Essential Job Functions:\nAbility to resolve technical problems efficiently\nCoding, collaborating, developing prototypes and projects from start to final product\nAbility to communicate technical concepts to both users and programmers effectively\nAbility to resolve technical problems efficiently.\nAbility to communicate technical concepts to both users and programmers effectively.\nProblem-solving\nFrequent computer and telephone use\nSitting for long periods of time\nConcentrating for long periods of time.\nInfrequent travel of less than 5% may be required.\nOur Company:\nAs one of Utah's Top Places to work, IAED is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
