This role is based in Salt Lake City, UT and has a hybrid work model.\nJob Summary\nThe Software Development Manager provides day-to-day people leadership and hands-on technical leadership for the Software Development team. This player/coach role contributes to design and development while guiding delivery across legacy client applications and modern web services. The manager partners with Product and Project Management to clarify requirements, prioritize work, and deliver secure, high-quality releases. The role also ensures development practices align with ISO and security standards through consistent SDLC practices, documentation, and audit readiness. This position reports to the Executive Director of Software Development.\nMajor Responsibilities\nFoster a high-performing culture of trust, accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.\n\nBuild cross-functional alignment and drive continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nLead and mentor a team of developers working on both legacy client applications and modern web technologies.\n\nEnsure development practices align with ISO standards (e.g., 27001, 9001), including audit readiness and maintaining required engineering documentation.\n\nChampion Agile methodologies and ensure effective collaboration with Product and Project Management to deliver iterative, high-quality releases.\n\nDrive strong engineering fundamentals across the SDLC (code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, release practices, and pragmatic documentation).\n\nLead test automation efforts and quality strategies (unit, integration, and regression) for both web and client applications.\n\nProvide architectural and technical direction to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term product strategy; make tradeoffs that balance performance, maintainability, and compliance.\n\nCollaborate with Product Management, Support, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment on priorities.\n\nContribute hands-on development (design, coding, reviews, and troubleshooting) across client applications, web services, APIs, and microservices to unblock the team and support delivery.\n\nGuide the design and delivery of telephony system integrations, including capturing and processing SIP traffic and relaying real-time audio to cloud services for downstream processing.\n\nMonitor project progress, proactively identify risks, and communicate roadblocks to leadership.\n\nConduct performance reviews, recommend promotions, and manage hiring and disciplinary actions.\n\nPartner with leadership and HR to plan headcount, support hiring, and onboard new team members.\n\nManage team capacity and work planning, including prioritization, coverage, and coordination across in-office and remote schedules.\n\nDevelop and maintain clear policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, compliance, and best practices across the software development lifecycle.\n\nQualifications\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.\n\n5+ years of software development experience, including client-based and web-based technologies.\n\n2+ years of leadership experience in a software development environment.\n\nWorking knowledge of ISO 9001/27001 (or similar) compliance expectations in a software development context.\n\nExperience with full-stack development, APIs, Git, and cloud-based platforms.\n\nHands-on experience with VoIP and SIP, including capturing or processing SIP traffic and handling real-time audio (e.g., RTP) in production systems.\n\nExperience with AI coding agents like GitHub CoPilot and Claude Code.\n\nFamiliarity with secure coding practices and deployment in regulated environments.\n\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\n\nExperience in designing scalable architectures and implementing security best practices in regulated environments.\n\nExperience with Agile, Scrum, and modern SDLC tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira).\n\nExperience with microservices and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).\n\nProven experience in creating and documenting policies, procedures, and SOPs for technical teams and product development processes.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with multiple programming languages/frameworks like: Delphi, C#, C++, Python, and JavaScript (React).\n\nExperience with SaaS product development and deployment.\n\nKnowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).\n\nExperience with cloud telephony platforms, media servers, or session border controllers (e.g., Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Twilio, or other PBX/telephone systems).\n\nExperience streaming or transcoding real-time audio to cloud services for downstream processing (transcription, analytics, ML/AI pipelines).\n\nFamiliarity with emergency services or public safety software.\n\nExperience leading cross-functional teams in hybrid (in-office/remote) environments.\n\nPhysical Requirements\nSitting and concentrating for long periods of time.\n\nOccasional travel of less than 10% may be required.\n\nEssential Job Function\nAbility to multi-task technical situations efficiently.\n\nAbility to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.\n\nProblem-solving and troubleshooting skills.\n\nExcellent planning and organization skills.\n\nPerforms independent research of technical issues.\n\nPerform effectively in stressful situations.\n\nExcited about learning new knowledge and technology.\n\nOur Company: Priority Dispatch Corp. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
