In this role, you'll combine leadership, operational excellence, and industry expertise to support agents, customers, and business partners while ensuring compliance and underwriting quality standards. You'll mentor and develop underwriters, drive process improvements, and collaborate across the organization to implement strategic initiatives that enhance customer experience. As a trusted subject matter expert, you'll tackle complex underwriting challenges, support key business decisions, and champion best practices throughout the region. If you're a relationship-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about helping agriculture succeed, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.\nIn this Exciting Opportunity, You Will:\nLead, develop, and manage underwriting staff through training, coaching, performance management, staffing decisions, workload allocation, and ongoing direction.\nOversee underwriting operations, maintain workflow expertise, assist with business processing as needed, and support departmental staffing during absences or peak workloads.\nEvaluate underwriting information, make final underwriting determinations, and prepare and process policies and endorsements.\nSupport business unit initiatives by gathering and evaluating information, planning and implementing processes and systems, and promoting strategic projects, including ProAgWorks implementation and training.\nDevelop, maintain, and interpret underwriting guidelines, FCIC documentation, and Underwriting Manual (TOPE) standards to ensure consistency and compliance.\nAnalyze policy data, support FCIC error resolution efforts, monitor underwriting quality metrics, and manage reporting activities.\nServe as a subject matter expert by responding to complex inquiries and providing underwriting support to agents, policyholders, applicants, account representatives, clients, and underwriters.\nCollaborate with Sales, Claims, Compliance, Accounting, and other business partners to resolve issues, communicate underwriting policies, and support customer service excellence.\nOther duties and projects as assigned.\nWhat You Bring\nA minimum of six years of relevant and progressive professional experience within underwriting.\nPrevious agriculture or crop insurance industry experience.\nA bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience.\nPossess the ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of underwriting in day-to-day and strategic work.\nSolid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.\nAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.\nKnowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company's business to proactively respond to changing business environment.\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefit package\nStrong learning culture with ongoing development opportunities\nOpportunities for growth and career advancement\nComprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, with eligibility beginning on your first day of employment\nBasic life and disability insurance\n401(k) plan with 6% company match\n20 days of PTO, three floating holidays, approximately 10 paid holidays, and volunteer time off\nPaid parental leave\nAccess to our award-winning wellness program, including mental health services, fitness network membership, and a complimentary Headspace subscription\nStudent loan matching program\nEmployee discount program\nAn opportunity to do meaningful work and love what you do\nWhat We Represent:\nA career with purpose. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
