Here in Manchester, we've been making P&G products at our Trafford Park site for the past 90 years and after some exciting new investment are looking to recruit a motivated utilities technician to join our Pampers manufacturing team.\nThe Utilities Technician is a key member of the Site Utilities Team, responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site utility systems such as cooling towers, HVAC, glycol chillers exhaust fans etc . The role focuses on equipment reliability through planned maintenance, defect management, contractor supervision, and continuous improvement to drive better reliability and efficiency of our equipment.\nThis is a day-based role (7am - 3pm) with required participation in an on-call rota (1 week in 4) and support for weekend maintenance activities (as needed).\nKey Responsibilities\nSafety & Quality\nChampion safety and quality in all activities, maintaining the highest standards across the utilities area.\n\nEnsure full compliance with site safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and company policies.\n\nPromote a proactive safety culture through risk identification, mitigation, and continuous improvement.\n\nReliability & Maintenance Excellence\nExecute maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and performance.\n\nInvestigate equipment failures and process issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.\n\nCreate, maintain, and improve technical standards to support reliable operations.\n\nDaily Management Systems (RTT)\nPlay an active role in daily direction setting and ensure daily inspection processes are executed to a high standard.\n\nUse performance data and operational insights to drive continuous improvement and department performance.\n\nCoaching & Capability Building\nCoach, mentor, and develop apprentices, building both technical expertise and RTT DMS capability.\n\nShare best practices and support the development of technical competence within the wider team.\n\nContractor Management\nManage third-party contractors safely and effectively.\n\nPrepare work permits, conduct risk assessments, and supervise contractor activities to ensure safe and high-quality execution.\n\nEnsure all contracted work meets site standards and regulatory requirements.\n\nWhat we Offer You:\nCompetitive Salary: You will join on our starting pay whilst qualifying into your role. Once you have qualified, you will move to our level two pay structure. Starting Pay - £33,232.68 Level 2.1 Pay - £35,520.68 Level 2.2 Pay - £38,400.44\n\nFlex4Me: This is an annual £1200 allowance for you to spend on physical, mental, financial and work-life balance wellbeing.\n\nGenerous Pension: The Company will contribute double the amount you contribute towards your pension savings, up to a maximum company contribution of 14% of your pensionable pay.\n\nAnnual Leave: You will start with 25 days annual leave entitlement (plus bank holidays), increasing with length of service up to 30 days.\n\n1-4-1 Shares: For every share that you purchase, the Company will purchase a share on your behalf. Show leadership potential and are not afraid to accept difficult challenges.\n\nAre willing to suggest and implement changes that will improve systems, work processes and equipment reliability.\n\nAre strong team players who possess excellent verbal and written communicated skills that allow cross-shift and function interaction.\n\nAre able to make maximum contribution with minimum supervision.\n\nWant a challenging career and not just a job.\n\nJob Qualifications\nWe are looking for individuals who have:\nTime-served mechanical or process apprenticeship, or equivalent technical experience.\n\nStrong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.\n\nExperience working with:\nAir Handling Units (AHUs)\n\nCooling Towers\n\nWater Chillers\n\nGlycol Systems\n\nPumps\n\nMotors\n\nFans and associated mechanical equipment\n\nProven troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.\n\nGood computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.\n\nThe ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.\n\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.\n\nIt would be great if you also have:\nIOSH qualification.\n\nPermit-to-Work training and experience, including:\nGeneral Work Permits\n\nWorking at Height\n\nConfined Space Entry\n\nConstruction Activities\n\nHot Work\n\nQualification to work at height and operate MEWPs.\n\nLifting and Slinging certification.\n\nLegionella awareness training.\n\nExperience managing subcontractors and external service providers.\n\nExperience leading continuous improvement or reliability improvement initiatives.\n\nRight to Work:\nFor this role, you will need to provide your own, continuous (i.e. not time limited) right to work in the UK from Day 1 of employment without requiring sponsorship from P&G.\nP&G is legally required to ensure all candidates have the right to work in the UK from Day 1 of their employment.
