Job Title : Data Migration Specialist (MySQL to PostgreSQL)

Job Overview :

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement data migration strategies ensuring data integrity, consistency, and minimal downtime.

- Analyze existing MySQL schemas and map them effectively to PostgreSQL.

- Optimize and tune PostgreSQL for performance post-migration.

- Identify and resolve migration-related issues such as datatype mismatches, stored procedures, and triggers.

- Work closely with DevOps, DBAs, and application teams to validate the migration process.

- Create detailed documentation of the migration process, validation steps, and fallback mechanisms.

- Support post-migration testing and ensure system stability.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in database management and migrations.

- Proven experience in migrating large datasets (~800GB or more) from MySQL to PostgreSQL.

- Strong knowledge of SQL scripting, database performance tuning, and schema conversion.

- Familiarity with tools like pgLoader, AWS DMS, Ora2Pg, or custom migration scripts.

- Good understanding of database design, indexing, replication, and backup/restore strategies.

- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Familiarity with ETL tools and data warehousing concepts.

- Experience in handling production-level migrations with zero/low downtime.
