software engineers working on OpenEdge applications.\nConduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and create individual development plans.\nBuild and maintain a high-performing engineering culture focused on quality, innovation, and collaboration.\nRecruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent with OpenEdge and modern development expertise.\nFoster professional growth through technical training, certifications, and knowledge sharing initiatives.\nManage team capacity planning, sprint allocation, and resource optimisation.\nFacilitate daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies.\n\nTechnical Leadership and Architecture: \nProvide technical direction and oversight for OpenEdge application development and modernisation initiatives.\nDesign and review system architectures ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.\nDrive adoption of best practices in OpenEdge development, including ABL coding standards and design patterns.\nLead technical discussions on complex problems and provide hands-on guidance when needed.\nEvaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve development efficiency.\nChampion code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration practices.\nMaintain deep expertise in OpenEdge platform capabilities and stay current with the Progress product roadmap.\n\nApplication Development and Modernisation: \nOversee end-to-end delivery of OpenEdge applications from requirements through production deployment.\nLead modernisation efforts for legacy OpenEdge applications, including PASOE migrations and cloud enablement.\nDrive integration initiatives connecting OpenEdge systems with modern cloud services, APIs, Security, and microservices.\nImplement DevOps practices for OpenEdge development, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.\nEnsure application performance optimisation, database tuning, and scalability improvements.\nManage technical debt reduction and refactoring initiatives.\nCoordinate database schema changes, data migrations, and version upgrades.\n\nStrategic Planning and Execution: \nPartner with Product Management and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and priorities.\nTranslate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans.\nManage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables with transparency and accountability.\nIdentify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies across projects.\nDrive cost optimisation initiatives for OpenEdge infrastructure and licensing.\nContribute to enterprise architecture discussions and technology strategy decisions.\n\nCollaboration and Stakeholder Management: \nWork closely with cross-functional teams including QA, Security, DevOps, DBA, and Infrastructure teams.\nCommunicate technical concepts and project status effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nBuild strong relationships with business stakeholders to understand requirements and priorities.\nCoordinate with vendors and Progress Software support for platform issues and enhancements.\nParticipate in architecture review boards and technical governance committees.\n\nRequirements: \n10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2+ years in Managing Product development teams.\n2+ years of experience in engineering leadership or management roles.\nProven track record of delivering complex enterprise applications.\nExperience leading application modernisation and migration projects.\nDemonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.\nStrong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).\nExperience with version control systems (Git, SVN) and collaborative development workflows.\nKnowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment automation.\nUnderstanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).\nExperience with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON/XML, and web services integration.\nFamiliarity with modern web technologies (JavaScript, React, Angular) for UI modernisation.\nKnowledge of database concepts, SQL, and data modelling principles.\n\nLeadership and Management Skills: \nExcellent people management skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members.\nStrong problem-solving abilities and technical judgment for complex architectural decisions.\nEffective communication skills for technical documentation, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.\nExperience managing competing priorities and delivering results in fast-paced environments.\nAbility to balance technical excellence with business pragmatism and delivery timelines.\nStrong organisational skills with attention to detail and
