This role serves as a key interface between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and customers to ensure technically compliant, competitive, and commercially viable proposals. The position requires a strong understanding of transformer design, industry standards, manufacturing processes, and cost optimization.\n\nPRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nReview customer inquiries, RFQs, bid specifications, and associated contract documents.\nReview drawings, technical specifications, and supporting documentation provided with RFQs.\nInterpret customer requirements and applicable industry standards, including IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and NEMA.\nDevelop transformer designs and configurations that meet customer performance requirements while optimizing cost and manufacturability.\nPrepare accurate and competitive bid packages for power transformers, including Thermal design.\nPerform transformer design evaluations using engineering tools and software to verify compliance with customer specifications.\nRun impulse, short-circuit, thermal, and other design verification programs as required to ensure technical compliance.\nDevelop technical proposals, data sheets, design summaries, and cost estimates.\nPrepare technical clarifications, exceptions, and compliance documents for customer review.\nCoordinate engineering bid activities to ensure proposals are completed and submitted on time.\nSupport Sales and Commercial teams during technical discussions.\nRespond to customer questions and requests for technical clarification throughout the bidding process.\nPerform cost analysis and identify opportunities for design optimization and cost reduction.\nEvaluate technical risks associated with bid proposals.\nTrack bid performance, win/loss data, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement initiatives.\nSupport standardization efforts and process enhancements within the bid engineering function.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES\nStrong understanding of power transformer design principles, including: \nTwo-winding transformers, LTC (Load Tap Changer) transformers, Autotransformers and Generator Step-Up (GSU) transformers\nKnowledge of transformer components, accessories, cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment. \nFamiliarity with IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NEMA, and applicable utility specifications. \nUnderstanding of transformer manufacturing processes, testing requirements, and quality standards. \nProficiency with transformer design and analysis software \nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. \nAbility to interpret complex customer specifications and technical requirements. \nExcellent written and verbal communication skills. \nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and bid deadlines simultaneously. \nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. \nAbility to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\nRequired Education / Experience\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field\nMinimum of 2 years of experience in transformer design, bid engineering, or a related field.
