You'll be joining Propr's Finance team and will play a key role in keeping our financial reporting, reconciliations and compliance accurate and on time across our growing portfolio of short-term rentals. \nPropr operates across South Africa, Dubai and Portugal - this role is based in South Africa and doesn't require travel, but gives you the exciting opportunity to gain exposure to working across these regions as part of the role. If you love precision, thrive under deadline pressure, and get genuine satisfaction from a clean balance sheet - you'll fit right in.\nWhat you’ll be doing:\nMaintaining the general ledger and fixed asset register, and handling accounts payable and receivable\nProcessing journals, accruals and prepayments, and performing balance sheet reconciliations\nOwning month-end processes and preparing monthly management accounts and financial statements (balance sheets and income statements)\nCalculating, preparing and submitting statutory returns, and liaising with suppliers, banks and SARS where required to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations\nReviewing monthly client statements ahead of client payments being processed, and reconciling payments once made to confirm clients were paid accurately, updating the payments list accordingly\nReconciling client payments once made, updating the debtors list, and confirming clients were paid accurately\nAssisting with budgeting, forecasts, variance analysis - and making recommendations based on performance data\nProven end-to-end payroll experience, from processing and reconciling payroll runs through to statutory submissions.\nSlaying tasks, solving problems, kicking ass - spotting issues early and jumping in wherever needed, because we're all about being helpful\nHere’s our description of the ideal person for this job:\nCompleted BCom Accounting degree, with 3-5 years' experience as an Accountant in a high-volume environment\nConfident with cloud accounting systems (e.g., Xero/Sage/QuickBooks)\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets skills (pivots, lookups)\nDeep, practical accounting knowledge - you know your way around reconciliations, balance sheet control accounts and statutory compliance\nSolid understanding of SARS guidelines on VAT and tax inside out, and able to apply that knowledge to a high standard in your day-to-day work\nComprehensive understanding of IFRS for SMEs and multi-currency transactions\nTech savvy and comfortable learning new systems quickly (we use a custom Property Management System and Asana/Front in our workflow)\nExcellent numerical ability and detail-obsessed in the best way - you don't let small errors slide\nExcellent verbal and written communication - clear, calm and professional\nExtremely organised, able to multitask, and quick to adapt to last-minute changes\nSolution-oriented and proactive; you tackle hurdles as they appear, even outside your job description, and stay calm under pressure - you run towards the fire, not from it\nA team player who wants the people around them to win too\nAble to work reliably within South African business hours, and stay responsive on Slack/Asana\nA stable internet connection and a quiet, focused work setup\nBenefits\nAt Propr, we’re all about building an amazing place to work - together.
