Other duties may be assigned.\nReads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.\nReceives items for shipment, inspects visually for identity, quantity, and condition. Checks for obvious damage and segregates items requiring special handling.\nOpens containers as directed by work instructions or supervisor.\nLoads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand or with forklift or other handling equipment.\nLoads materials into carrier vehicles and installs strapping, bracing or logistic bars padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.\nCompletes receiving and shipping documents accurately and completely per ProTrans specifications with the scan gun.\nCounts, weights, and records number of units of materials moved or handled in PTI System.\nEnsures proper identification. Identifies all shipments by proper marking and labeling, including special handling instructions.\nCoordinates transportation requirements. Coordinates any special handling problems. Gathers data for preparing reports.\nWarehouses and stores inbound and outbound cargo awaiting processing and/or onward movement. Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together as direct per work instructions.\nLifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment. Conducts safety and equipment checks daily.\nOperates machinery such as banding, taping, and sealing.\nFollows all safety procedures. Actively works to improve individual and center safety record.\nActively works for continuous quality improvement.\nIdentifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS\nAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.\nREASONING ABILITY\nAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.\nCOMPUTER SKILLS\nAble to use scanning equipment.\nCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS\nForklift certification.\nOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES\nAbility to read and write English is required. Bilingual English/Spanish is desired.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions for this job.
