Located on the Jim Pattison Medical Campus in Vancouver’s False Creek Flats, this state-of-the-art facility will provide integrated, compassionate care across a wide range of specialties while incorporating advanced technologies, sustainable design, and innovative infrastructure. As a Power Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the safe and reliable operation of this world-class healthcare environment. Reporting to the Manager/Chief Engineer, you will maintain and repair a variety of building and mechanical systems, including HVAC, heating and cooling equipment, water systems, sterilizers, and pneumatic controls, while ensuring compliance with power engineering standards, safety policies, and applicable codes to help deliver exceptional patient care.\nWhat You Bring\nEducation\nCertificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of British Columbia. We value the cultural richness that our diverse workforce brings to the care of our equally diverse population of patients and residents.\nYour Day to Day:\nOperates heating, air conditioning, pumps, fans, air compressors, and pneumatic systems.\n\nMonitors and adjusts temperature control systems; records meter and gauge readings.\n\nChecks, repairs, and maintains plumbing fixtures and systems (water lines, waste lines, steam valves, sterilizers, ovens, etc.).\n\nOperates mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic controls to adjust HVAC and plant systems.\n\nRepairs and calibrates steam and HVAC instrumentation components.\n\nPerforms preventive and demand maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.\n\nTests, maintains, and repairs auxiliary power generators.\n\nCleans, lubricates, and performs minor welding repairs on equipment like beds and wheelchairs.\n\nChanges and cleans air filters, fan rooms, and ductwork.\n\nResponds to service and emergency calls for fire protection, medical air, vacuum, gas, and sterilizers.\n\nWho We Are:\nProvidence Health Care is building the new St. Paul’s Hospital, a state-of-the-art health campus opening in 2027.
