Backed by over €650M and powered by a growing team across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford, we are developing the hardware and infrastructure needed to deliver the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant.\nOur concept advances the most mature fusion technology out there, the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, through two next-generation machines: Alpha and Stellaris. Our work combines stellarator optimization, advanced computation, machine learning, and high-temperature superconducting magnets to unlock higher-performance designs that were previously out of reach.\nTurning these designs into a functioning fusion power plant requires excellence and ownership across every discipline, from physics and engineering to software, manufacturing, law, and business functions.\nBY JOINING OUR TEAM YOU’LL GET TO\nBuild the machine that builds the machine. Join TechOps at the forefront of advanced manufacturing, we’re building the production system that will enable commercial fusion. The Production lines, tooling, and processes are being developed from the ground up; you'll create the ways of working, not inherit them.\n\nWork at the frontier of manufacturing technology. Bring your creativity to evaluate, qualify, and deploy processes with no industry playbook, every component you build and every process you shape goes directly into the core of the stellarator magnet technology.\n\nDo work that matters, and see it grow. The hardware you build is the product and your career grows with it, from prototyping and process development through quality and industrialization, alongside exceptional colleagues from around the world.\n\nMake an impact you can point to. In a small, fast-moving team, your calls on equipment, quality, and process directly shape how a world-class deep-tech company produces superconducting magnets with results visible on the shop floor, not buried in a slidedeck.\n\nYOUR IMPACT\nDevelop and industrialize the manufacturing processes used to build HTS magnet coils.\nTranslate magnet designs into repeatable, high-yield production processes in collaboration with design, physics, and production teams.\nOwn the tooling, fixtures, and quality systems required to deliver consistent and reliable manufacturing outcomes.\nLead process development from prototype builds through the transition to full-scale manufacturing.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nDevelop, qualify, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for HTS coil winding, insulation, impregnation, and joining, working closely with magnet design and materials engineers.\n\nDrive design-for-manufacturing/design-for-assembly (DFM (Design for Manufacturing)/DFA (Design for Assembly)) collaboration with the design team, acting as the manufacturing voice in design reviews to keep coil designs buildable, scalable, and serviceable.\n\nDesign, procure, and validate tooling, fixtures, and jigs for precision winding and assembly of non-planar coil geometries, including capability studies where needed.\n\nDefine assembly sequences, work instructions, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and visual aids for technicians, and maintain this documentation as designs evolve.\n\nDefine and implement process controls and inspection methods (dimensional, electrical, structural) to catch defects early and protect conductor integrity.\n\nLead NPI (New Product Introduction) campaigns, process trials and pilot builds, and provide hands-on floor support during prototype and early production builds.\n\nLead root-cause analysis and corrective actions (8D (Eight Disciplines problem-solving methodology), 5-Why, fishbone, etc.) for yield, quality, and cycle-time issues, and apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to drive measurable process improvement.\n\nSupport supplier qualification and incoming inspection criteria for tooling, components, and outsourced subassemblies.\n\nManage engineering/process change control as designs and processes mature.\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, supply chain, and test engineering to resolve manufacturability issues early and support the ramp from prototype to serial production.\n\nWHO YOU ARE\n3+ years specifying, procuring, installing, commissioning, and qualifying production equipment and/or automation for component manufacturing lines and/or assembly cells - including RFQ (Request for Quote) ownership, supplier management, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)/SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and production ramp.\n\nHands-on experience designing tooling and fixtures for low-volume, high-precision production, and proficiency in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) plus a solid grasp of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).\n\nTrack record of writing clear work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation in a production or NPI(New Product Introduction) environment.\n\nWorking knowledge of process control, statistical methods, and structured root-cause problem solving (SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), 8D).\n\nExperience supporting prototype or first-article builds directly on the floor, not just from a desk.\n\nStrong communication skills in German or English.\n\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.\n\nNice to have:\nExperience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for engineering change control and manufacturing documentation management (e.g. Arena, Enovia).\n\nExperience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)/Platforms (e.g. Tulip, Delmia).\n\nExperience working in a research-to-product transition environment, where designs and processes evolve rapidly.\n\nExperience scaling a process from prototype to serial production in a startup or fast-moving environment.\n\nINTERVIEW PROCESS\nRecruiter Interview (30-60 min)\n\nTechnical Screening (30 min)\n\nTechnical Panel (3x60 min)\n\nCEO call (30 min)\n\nThis role sits at L2/L3 of our framework, please inquire during the recruitment process for further information\nAt Proxima Fusion, our mission is bold: making limitless clean energy a reality. To get there, we need a high-performing, diverse team that brings different perspectives, challenges assumptions, and builds together with purpose. We know that diversity of thought and experience leads to better ideas, stronger execution, and a more resilient team. We don’t look at how you identify, what you look like, who you choose to worship or what ethnicity you are. We care about what you can bring to the table.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6689,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"German","level":"All levels","optional":false}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Nuclear Energy"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-05T14:04:27Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":32,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.539,"p_room":0.6,"age_days":69,"expected_fill_days":84,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","velocity","win:late","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-11-03T05:54:40Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/proximafusion-manufacturing-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/proximafusion-manufacturing-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-03T21:48:53Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":133,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-04T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":8931},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=8931"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fproximafusion-manufacturing-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fproximafusion-manufacturing-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fproximafusion-manufacturing-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/proximafusion-manufacturing-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fproximafusion-manufacturing-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":286025}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"proximafusion.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":286025},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
