Backed by over €650M and powered by a growing team across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford, we are developing the hardware and infrastructure needed to deliver the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant.\nOur concept advances the most mature fusion technology out there, the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, through two next-generation machines: Alpha and Stellaris. Our work combines stellarator optimization, advanced computation, machine learning, and high-temperature superconducting magnets to unlock higher-performance designs that were previously out of reach.\nTurning these designs into a functioning fusion power plant requires excellence and ownership across every discipline, from physics and engineering to software, manufacturing, law, and business functions.\nBY JOINING OUR TEAM YOU’LL GET TO\nArchitect a breakthrough energy technology - Play a defining role in designing and integrating the systems that will power the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion plant, influencing decisions that shape the future of clean energy.\n\nSolve some of the most complex engineering challenges in fusion - Work across magnet design, HTS technology, manufacturing, structural integration, and controls, turning cutting-edge science into real hardware\n\nMove fast and build what matters - Join a highly ambitious, multidisciplinary team that combines cutting-edge simulation with hands-on engineering, turning bold ideas into real hardware on the path to commercial fusion.\n\nYOUR IMPACT\nJoin our team to work on cutting-edge power conversion technologies, developing solutions that combine high power density, high voltage and current, fast dynamic response, and demanding efficiency and reliability requirements. In this role, you will translate functional and system requirements into robust power-stage solutions. Your work will contribute to optimizing efficiency, thermal performance, reliability, scalability, and power density. You will work closely with colleagues across integrated electronics, embedded software, mechanical, thermal, and system engineering.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nEvaluate and develop power conversion topologies for converters, considering performance, efficiency, electrical stresses, thermal behaviour, reliability, power density, and system requirements.\n\nDesign and develop magnetic components such as inductors, transformers, and chokes, including selection of magnetic materials, core geometries, winding concepts, and evaluation of losses and thermal limitations.\n\nDevelop analytical and simulation models to evaluate converter behaviour, semiconductor stresses, switching and conduction losses, efficiency, and performance across relevant operating conditions.\n\nBuild prototypes and perform laboratory testing, characterization, verification, troubleshooting, and validation of power electronic circuits and converter stages.\n\nAnalyse test results and correlate measurements with simulations and calculations to identify design improvements and validate converter performance.\n\nWHO YOU ARE\nYou hold a University (Higher education) degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.\n\nYou are experienced in taking power-stage designs from initial concept and simulation through component selection, prototype implementation, laboratory measurement, debugging, and validation.\n\nYou are an expert in power conversion topologies, power semiconductors, magnetic components, and passive components.\n\nExperience with electro-thermal simulation tools such as PLECS is a plus.\n\nExperience with SiC or GaN semiconductors, high-frequency magnetics is a plus.\n\nINTERVIEW PROCESS\nRecruiter Interview (30-60 min)\n\nTechnical Screening (30 min)\n\nTechnical Panel (3x60 min)\n\nAt Proxima Fusion, our mission is bold: making limitless clean energy a reality. To get there, we need a high-performing, diverse team that brings different perspectives, challenges assumptions, and builds together with purpose. We know that diversity of thought and experience leads to better ideas, stronger execution, and a more resilient team. We don’t look at how you identify, what you look like, who you choose to worship or what ethnicity you are. We care about what you can bring to the table.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4424,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Electrical & Electronic Engineering","Nuclear Energy"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-11T10:04:01Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":79,"reasons":["conf:3","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-11T21:49:09Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/proximafusion-power-electronics-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/proximafusion-power-electronics-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-11T21:49:09Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":11011,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-12T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":8931},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=8931"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fproximafusion-power-electronics-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fproximafusion-power-electronics-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fproximafusion-power-electronics-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/proximafusion-power-electronics-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fproximafusion-power-electronics-engineer"}]}
