The role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving problems across the stack and are passionate about building high-quality products for content operations at scale.\nAbout the Team:\nVoD Video Engineering team is the backbone of our streaming platform - responsible for the entire lifecycle of on-demand video content, from ingest and transcoding through packaging, storage, and delivery. We own mission-critical systems that process thousands of hours of video daily, serving a global audience with reliability, low latency, and the highest quality of experience. Our team operates at the forefront of media technology, collaborating closely with CDN, playback, and content operations teams to continuously raise the bar on performance and scalability. If you're passionate about large-scale distributed systems and the technology behind modern video streaming, this is the team to be on.\nKey responsibilities:\nOwn features end to end, from understanding business and operational requirements through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.\nBuild responsive, accessible, and maintainable web applications for CMS and Content Operations workflows.\nDesign and implement backend services, APIs, integrations, and asynchronous workflows using Node.js and/or Java.\nDevelop interfaces and services for metadata management, validation, publishing, scheduling, bulk operations, entity replication, and content administration.\nBuild search, filtering, reporting, and processing-insights capabilities across content, metadata, and asset attributes.\nDesign clear and reliable API contracts between frontend applications and backend services.\nIntegrate CMS with RMS and other internal content, asset, video, and platform services.\nApply distributed-systems patterns such as retries, idempotency, timeouts, failure handling, and graceful degradation.\nBuild reusable frontend components and backend patterns that improve consistency, maintainability, and delivery speed.\nOwn production readiness, including testing, performance, resilience, security, deployment, monitoring, and operational handoff.\nParticipate in on-call rotations, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive reliability improvements.\nCollaborate with Product, Design, Content Operations, QA, and partner engineering teams to deliver measurable outcomes.\nMentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.\nRequirements\n3+ years of professional experience building and operating production web applications across frontend and backend layers.\nStrong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework, preferably React.\nStrong experience with Node.js and/or Java with a backend framework such as Spring Boot.\nSolid understanding of RESTful API design, asynchronous workflows, data modeling, and service integration.\nGood understanding of HTML, CSS, responsive design, accessibility, browser behavior, and frontend performance.\nExperience building complex forms, tables, search and filtering interfaces, file uploads, dashboards, and workflow-driven applications.\nUnderstanding of databases, caching, messaging systems, event-driven architectures, and distributed-system fundamentals.\nExperience with relational databases, SQL, Redis or similar caching technologies, and query-performance tuning.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and infrastructure-as-code practices.\nExperience with unit, integration and frontend testing.\nComfort with production observability, including logs, metrics, & error tracking.\nStrong communication skills and the ability to explain technical approaches and trade-offs clearly.\nCollaborative mindset with a willingness to mentor others and share knowledge.\nPreferred education and experience:\nBachelors/Masters in Computer Science or a related field with 3+ years of experience in backend development\nBenefits\n\nAbout us\nProximity is the trusted technology, design, and consulting partner for some of the biggest Sports, Media and Entertainment companies in the world!
