A New York State Professional Engineer license is preferred but not required. Candidates who are progressing toward professional licensure and possess strong structural analysis skills are encouraged to apply.\nThis position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging assignments, develop expertise in bridge load rating and structural design, and potentially participate in bridge inspection activities for NYSDOT, the New York State Thruway Authority, municipal agencies, and other public-sector clients.\nPrudent Engineering, LLP is an Equal Opportunity Employer.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nPerform bridge load-rating analyses for steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and other bridge types.\nDevelop and review structural analysis models using bridge load-rating and structural \nanalysis software.\nReview existing bridge plans, inspection reports, and related documents.\nDetermine controlling structural elements, load-rating factors, posting needs, and load-\nPrepare load-rating calculations, engineering reports, model documentation, and supporting submission materials.\nPerform structural analysis and design for bridge rehabilitation, repair, strengthening, and replacement projects.\nPrepare design calculations, plans, details, specifications, and construction cost estimates.\nEvaluate structural deterioration and its effects on bridge capacity and serviceability.\nRespond to quality-control comments and agency review comments.\nCoordinate with project managers, structural engineers, designers, CADD staff, and bridge inspection personnel.\nMaintain organized and traceable calculation files in accordance with client requirements.\nParticipate in field visits to verify bridge geometry, structural details, existing conditions, and deterioration when needed.\nPotentially assist with bridge inspections, condition assessments, and inspection report preparation.\nSupport proposal development, scope preparation, and fee estimating as experience progresses.\nApply applicable NYSDOT, AASHTO, FHWA, and client-specific design and load-rating requirements.\ncarrying capacity.\nDesired Professional Attributes\nApproaches structural analysis carefully and methodically.\nRecognizes the importance of sound engineering judgment, independent checking, and documented quality control.\nIs willing to investigate incomplete or conflicting record information.\nCommunicates technical findings clearly to project managers, reviewers, clients, and other team members.\nTakes ownership of assigned work and follows assignments through review and completion.\nSeeks continued technical growth in bridge design, load rating, rehabilitation, and inspection.\nWorks collaboratively and contributes to a culture of technical excellence and responsive client service.\nField and Travel Expectations:\nThis is primarily a structural engineering and office-based position.
