This role requires a strong analytical mindset to support data-driven decision-making processes within the insurance sector.Key Responsibilities:\nA. Data Quality Management\nData Quality Framework & Controls\nLead the implementation and continuous enhancement of the Data Quality Framework in line with regulatory requirement and Group Policy and Standard.\n\nDefine, review and optimize Data Quality Rules, thresholds and monitoring mechanisms.\n\nEstablish risk-based monitoring for Critical Data Elements (CDEs).\n\nDrive proactive identification of data quality risks and governance gaps.\n\nPerform root cause analysis and ensure sustainable remediation of recurring issues.\n\nDefine and implement preventive, detective and corrective controls to improve data quality.\n\nAct as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Data Quality Management.\n\nData Quality Monitoring & Reporting\nMonitor enterprise-wide data quality performance against agreed standards and thresholds.\n\nProduce timely, accurate and insightful Data Quality scorecards, dashboards and management reports.\n\nAnalyse emerging trends, themes and root causes, and recommend corrective actions.\n\nEnsure effective tracking and closure of data quality issues within agreed timelines.\n\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall Data Quality Scores.\n\nData Quality Remediation\nFacilitate issue prioritisation and remediation discussions with Data Owners and Data Stewards.\n\nChallenge stakeholders where remediation timelines are not met.\n\nEscalate material data quality risks and unresolved issues through governance forums.\n\nDrive accountability for issue resolution and control effectiveness.\n\nB. Data Governance Support (20%)\nSupport Data Governance Manager\nAct as deputy and strategic support to the Data Governance Manager in executing the Data Governance roadmap.\n\nSupport implementation of Group Data Governance Policies, Standards and Operating Models.\n\nAssist in preparation of Data Governance Council (DGC) materials, dashboards and management reports.\n\nTrack and monitor governance actions, decisions and commitments arising from governance forums.\n\nSupport governance maturity assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nData Ownership & Stewardship\nEngage and challenge Data Owners and Data Stewards to fulfil accountability obligations.\n\nFacilitate business workshops relating to Critical Data Elements (CDEs), Business Glossary, Data Ownership, Data Stewardship, Data Quality Rules and Data Lineage.\n\nSupport stewardship communities and governance capability building.\n\nData Lineage, Metadata & Governance Documentation\nSupport data lineage documentation, reviews and sign-off activities.\n\nMaintain governance artefacts including Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, Data Ownership Register, Data Stewardship Register, Data Quality Catalogue and Governance Dashboards\n\nEnsure governance documentation is current, complete and audit-ready.\n\nAudit, Regulatory & Risk Support\nSupport regulatory reviews, audits, risk assessments and compliance exercises involving data management, governance and quality.\n\nPrepare evidence and documentation to demonstrate effectiveness of governance and data quality controls.\n\nMonitor closure of audit findings and governance-related remediation plans.\n\nJob Requirements\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, Business Analytics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.\n\nPostgraduate qualification (MBA or Master’s) is an advantage.\n\nProfessional certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), Informatica Data Quality Certification, COBIT, ITIL or equivalent are highly desirable.\n\nExperience\nMinimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or information governance.\n\nAt least 2 to 3 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.\n\nPrior experience in life insurance, takaful, banking, or financial services is strongly preferred.\n\nProven experience working in regulated environments subject to regulatory and audit requirements.\n\nUnderstanding of Databricks and Informatica will be an added advantage.\n\nTechnical and Governance Expertise\nHands-on experience in designing and implementing Data Quality Frameworks, establishing Data Quality Operating Models, defining Data Quality Policies and Standards, building sustainable Data Quality Monitoring processes.\n\nSolid understanding of key dimensions (minimally completeness, accuracy, validity, consistency, uniqueness and timeliness) in enterprise data quality frameworks.\n\nExperience in defining business data quality rules, defining technical data quality rules, prioritizing critical data element-related data quality rules, establishing data quality thresholds, data quality scorecard monitoring, exception management and remediation tracking.\n\nExperience implementing data quality rules for Customer, Policy, Claims, Billing, Agency, Finance, or Operational data is highly preferred.\n\nRegulatory and Risk Knowledge\nGood understanding of Malaysian regulatory requirements impacting data, including PDPA and financial services governance expectations.\n\nStrong risk and control mindset with the ability to design audit-defensible governance processes.\n\nStakeholder and Leadership Skills\nStrong stakeholder management skills across business, operations, technology, risk, compliance and audit.\n\nAbility to influence senior stakeholders and drive accountability without direct authority.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare senior management and audit-ready materials.\n\nProven people management and coaching capability.\n\nPersonal Attributes\nHigh integrity and strong sense of accountability.\n\nStructured, analytical and detail-oriented.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills.\n\nPractical, delivery-focused, and resilient in a complex, regulated environment.\n\nStrong ownership mentality with the ability to balance governance rigor and business enablement.\n\nPrudential is an equal opportunity employer.
