We build and run software platforms for enterprise clients, with an AI-native approach to how we design, build, test and ship. This role will start by running one of our production platforms, and will grow into further projects in other sectors as they come online.\nThe roleYou will be our senior engineer on the ground in Singapore and the day-to-day owner of our first production platform. You report to the CTO, who remains the ultimate owner of the platform, and you close a round-the-clock gap: when a decision needs making in Singapore hours, you make it. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with that, who checks the evidence before acting, and who writes down what they did and why.\nYour week will mix five kinds of work:\nTechnical ownership and review. Acting as code owner for the platform: reviewing architecture, API design, schema and infrastructure proposals from the build team, approving and merging, and setting direction on the decisions that matter.\nDeployments and release operations. Owning deployments through our GitHub Actions pipelines to AWS, verifying releases on dev, QA and client UAT estates, and rolling back cleanly when something is wrong.\nCloud operations. Looking after our AWS estates (ECS Fargate, CloudFront, S3, RDS PostgreSQL, SSM Parameter Store, Secrets Manager), Terraform-managed infrastructure, IAM and OIDC trust, monitoring and alerting, and cost.\nDevelopment and continuous improvement. You are not only a reviewer. When you find a bug, a gap or something worth improving, you are able to build and fix it yourself across the Java / Spring Boot backend and React / TypeScript frontends, within our AI-assisted development lifecycle.\nData migration. Leading the migration of a client's existing records into the platform: source analysis, mapping, transformation and load scripts, reconciliation and cut-over, with the data quality and audit standards a regulated sector expects.\nWhat you will doHold merge and release authority for the platform, and give direct, reasoned feedback on design and infrastructure proposals, including to senior colleagues.\nRun and improve the deployment pipelines for backend services and frontend applications across dev, QA and client UAT environments.\nMonitor production and pre-production estates, triage and resolve incidents during Singapore hours, and escalate with a clear write-up.\nMaintain and extend Terraform-managed AWS infrastructure.\nBuild and fix features in Java / Spring Boot and React / TypeScript, following the team's contract-first API approach and test tiers.\nDesign and run the data migration for a client go-live: profiling source data, writing mapping and load scripts against PostgreSQL, reconciling counts and values, and rehearsing cut-over.\nWork inside our AI-native delivery process: agentic coding tools, automated research and planning, machine-readable tickets and review gates. You will help improve it.\nRepresent engineering in technical discussions with the client on integration, security, deployment and migration topics.\nMove between projects as the company's portfolio grows.\nWhat we are looking forMust have:\n6+ years in software engineering, including time as the engineer responsible for a production Java and PostgreSQL system: releases, incidents and the calls that come with them.\nHands-on AWS experience: containers (ECS or equivalent), networking, IAM, S3, CloudFront or another CDN.\nCI/CD with GitHub Actions or a close equivalent, Docker, and Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code tool.\nPostgreSQL: schema, migrations, performance, and comfort writing SQL for data analysis and loading.\nStrong code reviewer who catches design problems, not just style.\nProfessional experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or similar as part of your daily workflow, including reviewing and hardening AI-generated code for production.\nExperience shipping at least one production feature built on a large language model API, with a clear approach to evaluating its output.\nClear written communication. Much of your handover to the UK team will be in writing.\nBased in Singapore with the right to work here, and able to start as soon as possible.\nNice to have:\nSpring Data JDBC and Flyway.\nReact and modern frontend tooling (Vite, TanStack Query).\nAuth0 or another OAuth2 / OIDC identity provider.\nExperience leading a data migration into a new system where records must reconcile to the source.\nMulti-tenant SaaS or data-model restructuring.\nExperience in financial services, payments or an adjacent regulated sector.\nStart-up or scale-up experience, where you have worked with a small team and shifting priorities.\nBuilt software for enterprise customers: systems you developed and ran, rather than configuration or add-ons for a vendor platform such as SAP or Salesforce.\nWho this role suitsYou are probably a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Backend Engineer or Tech Lead today, most likely in Java, and you have gradually become the person on your team who owns deployments, production and the hard calls. You want a role where that ownership is explicit rather than something you do on the side, and where you can still build. You may also be a Senior Platform or Full Stack Engineer who never stopped writing application code, or a delivery engineer who has run client go-lives and migrations and wants to own the platform behind them.\nIf you are a pure DevOps or SRE engineer who has moved away from application development, this is probably not the right fit.\nHow we workSmall team, high trust, short feedback loops.\nAI tooling is part of how we build, not an add-on. We expect you to use it well and to be honest about where it falls short.\nWe document decisions and keep a living engineering wiki. If it is not written down, it did not happen.\nHybrid in Singapore, with regular overlap calls with the UK team in the early Singapore evening.\nSalarySGD 8,000 to 14,000 per month, depending on experience. The range is deliberately wide.
