This position serves as the technical owner of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial networks, data collection systems, and automation projects, while supporting daily manufacturing operations and long-term capital initiatives.\nThe Controls & Automation Engineer works closely with Operations Engineering, Engineering Technicians, Maintenance, Production, Quality, and Project Engineering to improve equipment reliability, increase process capability, reduce downtime, improve manufacturing performance, and drive digital transformation initiatives.\nKey Responsibilities\nAutomation & Controls\nDevelop, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC programs and control systems.\nSupport and improve HMI and SCADA applications.\nDiagnose and resolve electrical, instrumentation, and controls-related issues.\nMaintain control system documentation, backups, and change management records.\nDevelop and enforce controls standards across manufacturing equipment.\nSupport machine startups, commissioning, and process validation activities.\nMaintain alarm management and machine fault diagnostics.\nManufacturing Support\nProvide advanced controls support for production escalations.\nWork with engineering technicians to identify and resolve recurring equipment issues.\nImprove equipment uptime through root cause analysis and corrective actions.\nSupport preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.\nAssist with troubleshooting drives, motors, sensors, vision systems, and servo controls.\nData & Process Analytics\nDevelop manufacturing dashboards and reporting tools.\nUtilize process data to identify opportunities for scrap reduction, yield improvement, and downtime reduction.\nSupport SPC initiatives and process monitoring systems.\nAnalyze process trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.\nDevelop automated data collection and reporting solutions.\nProject Engineering\nLead controls-related capital projects from concept through implementation.\nDevelop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.\nManage controls vendors, system integrators, and contractors.\nSupport FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup activities.\nProvide technical input during equipment procurement and design reviews.\nProcess Capability & Continuous Improvement\nSupport process capability studies (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk).\nAssist with GR&R and Measurement System Analysis activities.\nSupport DOE and Six Sigma improvement projects.\nDevelop automated systems for monitoring critical process parameters.\nPartner with process engineers to reduce variation and improve manufacturing capability.\nPreferred Qualifications\nEducation\nBachelor's Degree in:Electrical Engineering\nControls Engineering\nAutomation Engineering\nMechatronics Engineering\nOr related engineering discipline\n\nRequired Experience\n3-7+ years of manufacturing controls and automation experience.\nExperience supporting high-speed manufacturing processes preferred.\nExperience leading automation or capital projects preferred.\n-----------------------------------------\nJob Offer Fraud Alert\nWe take the security of our candidates seriously.
