About The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our Power Grids team working across the UK.
The UK Power Grid is seeing significant investment now and into the future as the transmission and distribution grid is enhanced to deliver the energy transition, connecting low carbon generation to rising electricity demand. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who is keen to show enthusiasm in contributing towards these targets. You will manage, co-ordinate, direct and develop the provision of technical services to support the supply of cables, accessories, installation and maintenance of 66kV-525kV systems across the UK.
Responsibilities:
Managing and developing the System Design, Installation Design and Cable Accessories engineering functions to support transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects across the project lifecycle.
Providing technical leadership and governance for transmission projects, ensuring designs comply with customer specifications, applicable standards, industry best practice and Prysmian engineering procedures.
Acting as the technical authority for cable system design, installation engineering and cable accessory applications, including the review and approval of key engineering deliverables and design decisions.
Leading engineering resource planning and competency development to ensure appropriate capability, succession planning and effective delivery of engineering services.
Supporting tendering and business development activities by providing technical leadership, risk assessment, programme input and innovative engineering solutions to improve competitiveness and project outcomes.
Managing interfaces with customers, consultants, contractors, utilities and regulatory bodies throughout project development and delivery creating long term relationships with key decision makers in TSOs & DSOs to support business growth.
Driving continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, standardisation and lessons learned to enhance quality, efficiency and consistency across engineering functions.
Ensuring compliance and design considerations in accordance with Prysmian quality management systems, health and safety requirements, CDM regulations, temporary works requirements and project governance processes.
Supporting the development and implementation of new cable system technologies, installation methodologies and cable accessory solutions to strengthen Prysmian's market position in the transmission sector.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educated to degree level in a relevant Engineering subject and a member of an engineering professional institution.
Previous experience within an engineering background, ideally with a knowledge of cable systems however civil engineering would be considered.
Computer literate with a knowledge of AutoCad, databases and spreadsheets.
Demonstrate strong people management competencies.
