Let’s take a closer look at the role.\n Diesel Mechanics (Class A or B) are responsible for maintaining trucks and service vehicles throughout the mill site to ensure safe, high-performing operations. This role requires hands-on maintenance skills, diagnostic expertise, and leadership capabilities. Mechanics must have experience with electronic engines and be comfortable performing a wide range of mechanical duties.\nDays and Shift Information\nFull-time position working M-F 7AM - 3:30PM, flexibility a must.\nOn-call support required\nResponsibilities\nPerform lube, oil, and filter changes; conduct inspections; diagnose and repair diesel engines and electronic systems on Mack, Freightliner, and Taylor vehicles.\nMaintain and repair air brake systems, spring and air suspension systems, hydraulic systems, and perform tire changes, engine maintenance, and part replacements.\nOperate vehicles when needed and assist mill or customer personnel with internal logistics and transportation support.\nOrder necessary parts, maintain tool inventory (must have own tools), and perform basic metal fabrication and truck upkeep.\nMaintain a clean, safe work environment and report any equipment issues, hazards, or incidents to the on-duty supervisor promptly.\nWork Environment\nOutdoor and indoor work around an active mill site\nPhysically demanding tasks, including lifting, crawling, and standing for extended periods\nExposure to dust, grease, diesel fumes, and machinery noise\nFast-paced environment requiring independent decision-making and teamwork\n Education\n\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred\nTechnical training or certification in diesel mechanics is a plus\nExperience\n\n2-5 years of vehicle maintenance experience required\nHands-on experience with Mack, Freightliner, and Taylor trucks\nFamiliarity with diagnostic tools, air/hydraulic systems, and electronic engines\nComfortable with basic metal fabrication\nMust have personal tools\nPersonality Traits\n\nReliable and safety-conscious\nProblem-solver with strong diagnostic skills\nWillingness to lead and work independently\nTeam-oriented with strong communication skills\nAdaptable and ready for physically demanding work\n Pay/Benefits/Perks\nPay based on experience.\nAccrue up to five days PTO in first year.
