Let’s take a closer look at the role.\n Days and Shift Information:\n12 Hour Rotating Swing Shift\nKey Responsibilities:\nOperate and maintain heavy-duty forklifts (Taylor lift), yard vehicles, and equipment.\nComply with all Safe Job Instructions (SJIs), training requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations.\nReceive and inspect inbound loads, complete paperwork, and supervise unloading personnel.\nPrepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup, verify product integrity and counts, and ensure proper trailer/container loading.\nMaintain inventory controls, keep a clean and safe work environment, and report any hazards or issues to the supervisor.\nWork Environment:\nOutdoor work all day except when in the truck. The mill is part of Nucor Corp, the largest scrap metal recycler in North America. Minimal advancement opportunities (next step is foreman).\nEducation:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred\nExperience:\nExperience operating heavy-duty forklifts (Taylor lift) is required; knowledge of yard operations and equipment preferred.\nPersonality Traits:\nSafety-conscious, detail-oriented, cooperative with supervisors and coworkers, and able to handle physically demanding work.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to walk around trucks and inspect fluids and conditions.\nClimb up and down 5 steps for truck ingress/egress up to 12 times per 12-hour shift.\nHook/unhook airlines for trailers up to 75 times per 12-hour shift.\nDismount truck and position wood dunnage weighing up to 50 lbs as needed.\nSteer and stop truck and trailer weighing up to 90,000 lbs during 12-hour shifts.\n Pay/Benefits/Perks\n$17/hr\nAccrue up to five days PTO in first year.
