The role involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and driving throughout the workday, with regular movement between tasks and client support activities. \nCandidates must be comfortable climbing stairs, performing general housekeeping duties, making beds, accessing storage areas, and completing seasonal outdoor tasks such as yard maintenance and snow removal. The position also requires the ability to push, pull, bend, and perform other physical movements necessary to maintain a safe and supportive home environment. \nSuccessful candidates will possess the physical stamina, mobility, and flexibility to perform the essential duties of the position safely and effectively while supporting the needs of clients. \nKnowledge, Skills and Assets:\nWorking knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan.\nWorking knowledge of the characteristics of disadvantaged persons.\nWorking knowledge of Restorative Justice and Harm Reduction practices.\nUnderstanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.\nExcellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.\nExceptional writing and case management skills.\nStrong verbal skills and the ability to communicate professionally.\nResourceful, flexible, and well organized.\nProfessional, responsive, and a positive work attitude.\nAbility to make sound, timely, and accurate judgment while navigating crisis.\nAbility to work independently.\nMust maintain a positive relationship with clients, other staff, businesses, and government agencies.\nDemonstrate empathy for those impacted by the Criminal Justice System.\nQualifications\nEducation:\nSecondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges or University Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or minimum 1 year of practical experience working with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues including homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare\nPractical Experience:\nWorking knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues, including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system.\nWorking with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio-economic status, religious preference, etc.\nOther:\nFirst Aid & CPR, ASIST, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe would be considered an asset.\nValid / Insurable Saskatchewan Driver’s License, insurable to drive clients in JHSS-owned vehicles.\nCleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, completed three (3) months prior to start date.\nCapability:\nComputer skills with emphasis on Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)\nRequires flexibility and should be able to work varying shifts\nAdditional Information\nThe above statements reflect general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be construed as the detailed description of all work assignments that may be inherent to the position.\nYour past doesn’t need to define your future.
