You must have excellent customer service skills and be proficient at multitasking.\nResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nCommunicate effectively (in person and by phone) and courteously with patients, physicians and their office staff, insurance company representatives, peers, co-workers, and supervisors.\nSchedules patients for services(s) within established guidelines.\nGreets and register patients in a timely, professional and customer-focused manner.\nExplains the policies and procedures and billing processes to patient. Direct patient appropriately as needed.\nTracks and obtains ongoing insurance verification/authorization information from payers and communicates this data to patient, admission staff and treatment team.\nCollects patient co-payment, co-insurance, and deductibles as well as related fees for supplies and services.\nGenerates and maintains medical records.\nResponds to all requests for information according to established procedures.\nDischarges patients from the system.\nAssumes responsibility for and maintains the cash drawer system according to procedure.\nMaintains office and facility inventory and orders supplies as needed, following established procedures.\nAs appropriate, attends and participates in clinic/management meetings and in-service education programs.\nParticipates in training and cross training of all staff. Ensures competency of training to maintain efficient clinic operation.\nParticipates in performance improvement activities. Adheres to policies regarding infection control, risk management, HIPAA and corporate compliance.\nPerforms other duties as requested.\nRequirements\nQUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma, or GED. One or more years of experience in a medical records department or recent graduation from an accredited medical records program strongly preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy a must. Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on exceptional customer service required.
