The primary focus of this role is the ongoing maintenance, security, stability, and operational readiness of hosted environments, with particular emphasis on operating system patching, maintenance planning, patch execution, validation, and compliance.\nThis role is responsible for coordinating and executing recurring maintenance activities across supported environments. The engineer will work closely with R&D, Networking, DBA, Systems, and other supporting teams to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize operational impact.\nResponsibilities\nPlan, coordinate, and execute operating system patching and recurring infrastructure maintenance across supported Servigistics environments.\nDevelop and maintain patching schedules and maintenance plans, coordinating activities around required system time availability.\nReview systems prior to scheduled maintenance to identify prerequisites, dependencies, exceptions, or potential risks that could affect patching activities.\nCoordinate maintenance activities with internal teams, including Systems, Networking, DBA, R&D, and Application Support.\nPerform pre-maintenance and post-maintenance validation to confirm application availability, system health, and successful completion of planned activities.\nTrack patch status and identify systems that are unsuccessful, deferred, or require additional remediation.\nMaintain and configure supporting application technologies such as Apache, Java, Tomcat, and other approved third-party components.\nPerform basic application and infrastructure troubleshooting when issues arise during or following scheduled maintenance.\nSkills and Knowledge\nStrong working knowledge of Linux operating systems and Linux system administration\nExperience with operating system patching, system maintenance, and lifecycle management\nUnderstanding of patch planning, maintenance windows, change coordination, and post-maintenance validation\nExperience maintaining and configuring Apache, Java, and Tomcat\nFamiliarity with cloud computing technologies, including AWS and Azure\nBasic Oracle database knowledge, including select, insert, delete, and join commands\nFamiliarity with ETL technologies such as Pentaho PDI\nStrong organizational and planning skills with the ability to coordinate maintenance across multiple systems and environments\nStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills\nPreferred Background\n2+ years of experience supporting Linux systems, cloud-hosted environments, infrastructure operations, or system maintenance\nExperience coordinating or performing operating system patching and scheduled maintenance\nUnderstanding of cloud technologies\nLinux command-line experience\nBasic Oracle skills\nExperience working with maintenance schedules, change processes, or production maintenance windows\nExperience documenting technical procedures and maintenance activities\nBasic troubleshooting skills for identifying and escalating issues encountered during maintenance\nExposure to automation or scripting for repetitive system administration and maintenance tasks is a plus\nBasic Qualifications\nAssociate degree in a technical field such as IT, Computer Science, or Programming plus 2 years of technical work experience, or a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as IT, Computer Science, or Programming\nMust be a US Citizen\nMust have or be able to obtain a Security-level clearance\nPTC carefully considers a wide variety of factors when determining compensation. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is between $65,000 - $75,000. The salary range reflects a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a performance-based bonus. Employees also have the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder through our employee share purchase program (ESPP), which allows for the purchase of discounted PTC stock. Certain roles may also be eligible for participation in our equity programs.
