This position is remote, but may require travel to Sacramento, California.\nThe Web Designer will create amazing user experiences, has an eye for clean and artful web design and has superior user interface design skills. The successful candidate will be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts and transform them into intuitive and functional web page designs.\nThe Web Designer will lead joint application design (JAD) sessions and provide expertise on Human-Centered Design principles and approaches. The candidate will elicit and confirm requirements, design wireframes, create page mockups and prototypes and validate designs with clients and end users. Excellent communication skills and working as part of an integrated team are critical.\nTasks and Responsibilities:\nElicit requirements using interviews, requirements workshops, joint application design (JAD) sessions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis\nWrite functional requirement documents and specifications\nCreate information architectures, wireframes, page mockups and prototypes\nCreate cascading style sheets (CSS) that are consistent across all browsers and platforms\nMaintain and enforce design standards and branding\nPromote and enforce usability standards and best practices\nRefactor and modernize legacy web applications\nProactively communicate and collaborate with clients to analyze information needs and functional requirements\nCollaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs\nMandatory Qualifications:\nA BS degree in information systems, software engineering or related field or combination of education and experience is necessary\nFive or more years of demonstrated success as a web designer\nTwo or more years of experience with responsive and adaptive design\nExperience with Human-Centered Design Process\nProficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery\nExperience with screen mockup tools and prototype evaluation with end users and clients\nSelf-starter with leadership skills in order to take charge of or facilitate requirement-gathering sessions\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts\nMulti-tasking skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities and manage project scope changes\nAdvanced skills in Microsoft Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Project and Excel\nDesired Qualifications:\nExperience with large government technology projects\nTwo or more years of demonstrated success as a web designer on Java, JSF 2.1/2.2 with PrimeFaces\nTwo or more years of demonstrated success as a web designer on .NET framework including C#\nTwo or more years of demonstrated success as a web designer on mobile
