Each day in this role will be different, as this position supports a variety of activities.\nResponsibilities\nKEY DELIVERABLES\nContract drafting and negotiations-particularly for a variety of marketing agreements on both the client and vendor side\nActing as the main touchpoint for certain agency account teams\nLegal review of agency/advertising/marketing materials and programs\nAssisting with litigation matters and disputes\nGuiding business teams on day-to-day operational issues and risk allocation\nOther various duties expected of a general practitioner\nGENERAL DUTIES\nNegotiate, review, and draft a wide range of complex commercial contracts, including agency, consulting, master services, talent, licensing, creative services, sponsorship, vendor, marketing, digital services, rental, venue, location, and production agreements, as well as statements of work, releases, and waivers\nResearch and provide concise advice on a wide variety of matters related to marketing and advertising\nWork closely and collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, operations, finance, security, risk, privacy experts, and account teams on a variety of matters, which might include agency law, media buying, creative services, data ownership, data privacy compliance, IP matters, document review, dispute resolution, and internal reporting\nProvide legal and best practices training to management and account teams\nMake proactive contributions that maximize departmental efficiencies and simplify processes\nMaintain awareness and understanding of the latest developments in the law and industry standards as they relate to the agencies, advertising technology, AI, consumer protection, and other related matters\nProvide support to senior members of the legal team\nCOMPETENCIES\nConfidence in working independently while also being able to participate effectively and constructively as a member of a team\nHave strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills and a high level of business acumen\nAbility to collaborate well with a diverse team of stakeholders and departments\nAbility to provide training on legal compliance and best practices\nAbility to think and write critically\nAbility to manage large volume of competing priorities strategically and practically without sacrificing attention to detail\nAbility to manage clients with a customer service-oriented approach\nAbility to exercise sound judgement and to work efficiently under time pressures and deadlines in a fast-paced, demanding environment\nComfort with a variety of technology, including advanced Word and Excel skills and, preferably, AI prompting\nMust be highly organized, thorough, and comfortable with ambiguity, complexity, and rapid change\nDemonstrated ability to evaluate risk, advise various business units of the risks, and exercise sound legal judgment\nExcellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills that will enable interaction with a range of seniority levels and styles in a fast-paced business environment (including explaining legal concepts to clients and colleagues who may have limited time and/or legal knowledge)\nHave an effective solution-oriented, problem-solving approach to legal issues and a strong work ethic\nHave an upbeat temperament, dynamic personality, and highly team-oriented approach to work\nQualifications\nEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION\nThe experience and education qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to the following:\nJD from an accredited law school\nCurrent membership in good standing of the state bar of New York or another jurisdiction with the ability to register as in-house counsel in New York state\nA minimum of 5 years’ experience as an attorney at a national or recognized regional law firm and, preferably, experience as an in-house attorney in a related field\nExperience negotiating, interpreting, and drafting commercial agreements, with experience as the lead attorney\nSubject matter expertise in advertising, technology, media, data, and/or privacy is a plus\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nUse of computer, speaking on telephone\nWriting\nDaily carrying laptop and occasional lifting of file boxes\nAbility to travel\nWORK CONDITIONS\nSome limited travel may be required\nWeekend, evening work (home internet access) as needed\nAdditional Information\nThe expected salary range for this role is $150,000.00 - 165,000.00 annually.
