The ideal candidate will have expertise in COBOL programming, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and z/OS environments. This role involves working closely with business analysts, architects, QA teams, and production support teams to deliver reliable, high-performance mainframe solutions.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.\n\nAnalyze business requirements and prepare technical design specifications.\n\nDevelop and enhance batch and online transaction processing applications.\n\nWrite, modify, and optimize COBOL programs for performance and maintainability.\n\nDevelop and maintain JCL for batch processing, scheduling, and automation.\n\nCreate and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects in DB2.\n\nDevelop and maintain CICS online applications and transaction programs.\n\nWork with VSAM datasets, file processing, and data migration activities.\n\nPerform unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT).\n\nTroubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.\n\nSupport application deployments, system upgrades, and release management activities.\n\nParticipate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.\n\nPrepare and maintain technical documentation, design documents, and operational procedures.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including infrastructure, database administrators, QA, and business users.\n\nSupport application modernization initiatives and integration with distributed systems.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.\n\n3–10+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe application development.\n\nStrong programming experience with COBOL.\n\nHands-on experience with JCL, CICS, and DB2.\n\nExperience working in IBM z/OS environments.\n\nKnowledge of VSAM file structures and file handling.\n\nStrong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\n\nExperience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.\n\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience with IBM z/OS Connect and REST API integration.\n\nKnowledge of Mainframe modernization initiatives.\n\nExperience integrating mainframe applications with cloud or distributed systems.\n\nFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.\n\nExperience with DevOps practices for mainframe applications.\n\nIBM Mainframe certifications are a plus.\n\nSoft Skills\n\nStrong analytical and to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\n\nAttention to detail and commitment to quality.\n\nProduction Support Responsibilities\n\nProvide Level 2/Level 3 production support for mainframe applications.\n\nInvestigate and resolve application incidents and batch failures.\n\nMonitor daily batch processing and online transactions.\n\nPerform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.\n\nSupport disaster recovery and business continuity activities.\n\nCoordinate application deployments and production releases.\n\nEnsure compliance with enterprise security and operational standards.\n\nNice to Have\n\nExperience with Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, Healthcare, or Retail domains.\n\nKnowledge of Java or .NET integration with mainframe systems.\n\nExperience with API enablement of legacy applications.\n\nFamiliarity with cloud integration and hybrid architecture.\n\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines for mainframe
