There is no “fake it until you make it” here\nResponsibilities\nSupport the design and engineering of utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects under the guidance of senior engineers. \nPerform electrical engineering design tasks including: \nOverall system layouts \nEquipment selection and technical specifications \nSingle-line and three-line diagrams \nMedium-voltage AC and DC cable sizing and routing \nSCADA and communication system design \nGrounding system design \nProtection, control, and wiring diagrams \nUnderground collection system and trench layouts \nPerform engineering calculations with training and review, including voltage drop, cable ampacity, conduit fill, equipment loading, and related analyses. \nPrepare complete construction drawing packages using AutoCAD. \nCoordinate with internal project teams and support communication with clients, utilities, permitting agencies, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and consultants as needed. \nSupport projects during construction by helping respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewing equipment submittals, researching field issues, and participating in site visits when needed. \nBalance work on multiple project tasks while communicating progress, questions, and priorities with project leads. \nLearn to break down engineering problems into practical design solutions with support from senior engineers and project managers. \nEnsure designs comply with applicable codes, industry standards, client requirements, and company quality procedures. \nMaintain compliance with company safety policies and applicable industry and regulatory standards. \nParticipate in internal design reviews and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes to develop sound engineering judgment. \nPerform other duties as assigned. \nRequirements\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. \n1-3 years of relevant internship, co-op, academic project, or professional experience related to electrical engineering, solar PV, power systems, or renewable energy. \nExposure to AutoCAD or similar drafting/design software; experience with construction documents, layer management, Xrefs, blocks, plotting, or file management is preferred. \nBasic familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical safety concepts, and applicable industry standards, with a willingness to continue learning. \nFoundational understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, and engineering design principles. \nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. \nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. \nClear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to ask questions, document work, and collaborate with engineering teams. \nAbility to manage assigned tasks, follow direction, and communicate workload or schedule risks early. \nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and other engineering documentation. \nPreferred Qualifications\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or interest in pursuing professional licensure. \nInternship, co-op, academic, or entry-level experience with solar PV, BESS, power systems, or renewable energy projects. \nExperience designing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). \nFamiliarity with PVSyst, CYMCAP, ETAP, or similar engineering software. \nExposure to electrical studies such as cable ampacity, voltage drop, grounding, short-circuit, or load flow analyses. \nInterest in utility interconnection requirements and utility-scale project development. \nNABCEP certification. \nLocation\nThis position will be based out of our exciting Denver, CO area office with the flexibility to work a hybrid in-office and remotely weekly schedule. We also provide a parking spot for the days when an employee wishes to drive to the office and for those that utilize public transportation, we will cover the costs associated with traveling to and from the office.\nSalary Range\n$85,000- 120,000 Annually\nCompensation and Benefits\nWe offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
