In this role you will own, design, create, and maintain our connected fleet of devices. This includes our access control system (Anytime Fitness) and our connected studio experience (Orangetheory Fitness).\nOur systems combine custom ICs, bespoke vendor hardware, and off-the-shelf components that bring our 7000+ studios to life for our millions of global members. An ideal candidate will have a baseline of embedded engineering experience in addition to familiarity with a connected system (mobile, backend, or other very extensive hardware experience).\nPurpose/Impact: Duties & Essential Functions\nFirmware + Integration Responsibilities (60% of time)\nCollaborate with the broader Edge Engineering firmware, backend, QA, and lead engineers\nDesign, write, and maintain C++ firmware code for our Access Control System\nManage the integration between our hardware and backend systems\nIdentify, design, and develop internal tools for fleet management\nWrite and maintain our automated testing suite\nWrite and maintain our technical documentation\nHardware Responsibilities (20% of time)\nWork with hardware design vendors to spec and deliver new hardware revisions\nWrite, develop, and execute acceptability and manual test plans\nAssist our dedicated support team in debugging intricate hardware problems globally\nCross-Team Collaboration (20% of time)\nBecome the go-to resource for answering deep technical questions on our hardware technology stack\nCollaborate with our hardware & SaaS vendors to maintain excellent working relationships\nCollaborate with our Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Provisioning teams to ensure stable product is always available\nStrengths and Background\nRequired Qualifications and Experience\nProven ability to set and hit commitments while maintaining technical excellence\nProven ability to self-direct and organize in a fast-paced distributed collaborative environment\nProficiency in writing firmware for microcontrollers (C/C++)\nProficiency in multithreaded applications (mutexes/threads/pthreads/etc.)\nExperience in writing and integrating automated test cases (GTest, GMock, etc.)\nDeep knowledge in at least one \"Nice-to-have\" section below\nNice-to-have -
