Advises in both group and individual settings with current and prospective students. Interprets State, University, and college policies and procedures. Maintains accurate records of student contacts.\n\nMonitors academic progress and implements intervention strategies for students who receive academic alerts or who need assistance in maintaining or improving their academic standing.\n\nPromotes student learning, development, and personal growth to empower self-sufficiency. Provides students with proactive referrals to appropriate resources and timely reminders, and other targeted individual and group communications using email, texting, and social media.\n\nPromote a culture of belonging through various university and department initiatives.\n\nManages/coordinates advising projects, events, outreach, and interventions for all students. Actively seeks to identify and address individual, organizational, and environmental conditions that foster or inhibit student success.\n\nUse EAB Navigate (student success platform) to establish targeted student populations on caseload for more intensive advising.\n\nTargeted Support:\nUtilize best practices, resources, and tools to identify and provide targeted, tailored advising services to those students who demonstrate behaviors that put them at risk of being unsuccessful in their academic experience\n\nContinuous improvement and Additional Duties:\nCollaborate and participate in various activities with department, division, and university partners to enhance our unit’s approach and impact on student recruitment and success as the needs of students change to meet the goals for student recruitment and retention of the university.\n\nParticipate in training and professional development activities.\n\nConducts research on topics within the field of academic advising.\n\nCollaborate with university partners on matters that impact student recruitment, success, and retention and support developmental and university retention initiatives.\n\nAdditional Responsibilities:\nThis position description outlines the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of the Academic Advisor II position, emphasizing an intentional, developmental, and holistic approach to advising. It may not include all tasks and functions, as additional duties may be assigned to address specific needs and promote student success\nRequired Education and Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in applicable field.\n\nTwo years of related experience in advising and recruiting.\n\nRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nKnowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.\n\nKnowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits.\n\nAbility to multitask and work cooperatively with others.\n\nAbility to present information clearly and concisely.\n\nAbility to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.\n\nExcellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.\n\nOther Requirements:\nWork beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.\n\nTravel required.\n\nRequired Attachments:\nPlease attach all required documents listed below in the attachment box labeled as either “Resume/CV or Resume/Cover Letter” on the application.
