Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate.\n------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\nThe Police Lieutenant, under direction, supervises officers and police personal and enforces, prevents, and investigates violations of the law and University rules and regulations.\nThe salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.\nResponsibilities:\nSupervises a police sergeant and a shift of police/communication officers. Evaluates, counsels and advises subordinates. Approves subordinate leave.\nReviews and approves reports and case files submitted by subordinates.\nSupervises a squad of security officers and/or parking officers.\nAssimilates and interprets administrative directives and policies and ensures implementation.\nPatrols campus and acts as a point of contact for other agencies.\nProvides professional skills to in-service seminars and training of subordinate officers.\nInvestigates offenses and arrests offenders of State Criminal Law and Transportation Code violations.\nPrepares comprehensive reports.\nManages crime scenes and evidence collection and processing. Attends meetings with other departments on and off campus.\nServes as an appointed chairperson or member of committees, recruit officer review and officer promotion boards.\nTestifies in Justice of the Peace Court as well as County and District Courts and student judicial hearings.\nInteracts with the public by speaking on various topics dealing with law enforcement and community policing.\nPerforms administrative duties and other duties as assigned.\nRequired Education and Experience:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\nTwelve years of experience as a licensed Police Officer.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nAbility to multitask and work cooperatively with others.\nAbility to communicate effectively with all segments of the campus population.\nAbility to function under adverse and stressful conditions.\nRequired Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:\nTexas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) advanced certification.\nMust have a State of Texas class 'C' vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.\nOther Requirements:\nWork beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.\nApplicant must pass an entrance exam to be considered for employment.\nApplicant must successfully pass psychological evaluation, physical examination, and complete background investigation to include but not limited to driving history, criminal background, and credit history.\nJob Posting Close Date:\n11/13/2026\nRequired Attachments:\nPlease attach all required documents listed below in the attachment box labeled as either “Resume/CV or Resume/Cover Letter” on the application.
