Employees have early access to earned wages through PayActiv.\nCooks and oversees the preparation and cooking of meals for residents, visitors, and other guests.\nResponsibilities\nEssential Duties\nCook meals and oversees the cooking staff in meal preparation according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and numbers of portions to be served following proper production techniques and sanitation standards.\nClean and inspect equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation according to sanitation guidelines.\nCompile and maintain records of food use and expenditures.\nDirect activities of staff performing cook, food service duties and proper kitchen cleaning and sanitation standards.\nTake inventory of supplies and equipment.\nPlaces orders, requisition of food supplies, kitchen equipment, and appliances, based on estimates of future needs.\nRotates perishable products and recycles as appropriate.\nPlan menus that are varied, nutritionally balanced, and appetizing, taking advantage of foods in season and local availability.\nTrain new employees for department.\nAssists in resolving customer complaints regarding food quality.\nAttend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development. \nFollow established policies and procedures including but not limited to: \nPresbyterian Villages policies and procedures. \nSafety policies and procedures. \nFederal, state and local regulations. \nAll other duties as assigned. \nQualifications\nEducation:\nHigh School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).\nExperience:\nThree or more years experience in food service, culinary, cooking required.\nHealthcare or institutional cooking experience preferred, but not required.\nComputer Skills:\nMust have ability to operate a computer\nCertificates & Licenses:\nServSafe/Food Safety certification preferred.
