Job Description & Summary

At PwC, our people in legal services offer comprehensive legal solutions and advice to internal stakeholders and clients, maintaining compliance with regulations and minimising legal risks. These individuals provide strategic guidance and support across various industries.

In legal specialties at PwC, you will focus on legal support and advice across specific areas of law, confirming compliance and mitigating legal risks for the organisation. Your work will involve a wide range of specific legal matters and collaborate with different teams to drive business objectives.

PwC in the Caribbean is an integrated network of firms serving international businesses, private companies and government clients. In Trinidad and Tobago, our Legal Services practice supports clients with practical, commercially focused legal solutions while maintaining quality, professional standards and trusted relationships.

As an Associate in Tax & Legal Services, you will work with experienced legal professionals on corporate, commercial, immigration and regulatory matters. You will conduct legal research, prepare and review legal documents, support transactions and client advisory assignments, maintain accurate matter files and help clients understand and respond to legal and regulatory requirements. You will be expected to exercise sound judgement, protect confidential and privileged information, communicate clearly and escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately.

Examples of the skills, knowledge, and experiences you need to lead and deliver value at this level include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct legal research on legislation, case law, regulatory requirements and administrative guidance, and prepare clear written analyses.
  • Draft, review and proofread corporate and commercial documents, correspondence, legal memoranda, agreements, resolutions and supporting materials under appropriate supervision.
  • Support company incorporations, registrations, statutory filings, corporate secretarial matters and maintenance of corporate records.
  • Assist with legal due diligence, document reviews, transaction checklists, closing deliverables and post-completion actions.
  • Support employment and labour matters through research, document preparation, policy review and analysis of workplace legal requirements.
  • Assist with immigration and work-authorisation matters, including document collection, application preparation, status tracking and client communication.
  • Support regulatory and compliance assignments by researching applicable obligations, preparing submissions and tracking approvals, renewals and deadlines.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, external counsel, registries, regulators and other government bodies as authorised by the engagement team.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and well-organised electronic matter files, working papers, research sources, correspondence and document versions.
  • Apply confidentiality, legal privilege, independence, conflict-checking, data-protection and records-management requirements to all matters.
  • Deliver assigned work accurately and on time, communicate progress and risks promptly, and seek guidance where legal complexity or professional judgement requires escalation.

Minimum years experience required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in using AI-enabled tools and a range of digital systems beyond traditional research databases, with the ability to learn and adopt new technologies quickly.
  • Accounting qualifications or relevant experience are preferred, together with a willingness to undertake compliance-related work.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and research capabilities, with a solutions-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in tax and finance is highly valued.
  • Prior experience in tax law, legal advisory, consulting, or compliance is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of commercial law is an asset, particularly in supporting tax advisory and consulting engagements.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work from the Port of Spain office and at client or government locations, subject to engagement requirements and firm policy.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when required to meet transaction, court, regulatory or client deadlines.
  • Ability to travel within Trinidad and Tobago and, occasionally, elsewhere in the Caribbean where business needs require.
  • Successful completion of PwC recruitment, background-screening, independence and conflict-check requirements.
  • Any legal work requiring admission or a practising certificate will be performed only by appropriately authorised professionals and within the scope permitted by applicable law and professional rules.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or another legal qualification recognised in Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Legal Education Certificate, admission to practise in Trinidad and Tobago, or active progress toward an applicable professional legal qualification is desirable.
  • Strong academic performance in corporate law, commercial law, employment law, administrative or regulatory law, legal research or related subjects.
  • Up to two years of relevant experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, regulator, government body, corporate secretarial practice or professional services environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated legal research, analytical writing and document-drafting capability.
