This work will support two major regional projects:\nNZT Power’s carbon capture plant\nNEP’s onshore compression facilities\n\nOver the initial five-year term, px Group will deliver the OE&M requirements of the Operational Readiness phase, supporting commissioning and managing the handover from the Joint Venture project teams into full operations.\nThe Opportunity\n\nWe are now recruiting for a Project Controls Engineer on a fixed term contract basis during the Operational Readiness Phase. The role is part time 3 days per week.\nThe Project Controls Engineer is responsible for providing cost, planning, and risk management support to the NZT and NEP Operational Readiness and project delivery activities.\nThe role ensures that project performance is effectively planned, monitored, and controlled, providing accurate reporting, analysis, and insight to support decision-making and delivery against the Operational Delivery Plan (ODP) and Operational Readiness Plan (ORP).\nYou’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, and mentoring.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain integrated project schedules aligned to the ODP and ORP, ensuring clear visibility of milestones, dependencies, and critical path activities. \nProvide cost engineering support, including development, tracking, and forecasting of project budgets and expenditure. \nMonitor and report on project performance against cost, schedule, and key deliverables, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions. \nSupport the development and maintenance of project control frameworks, including planning standards, cost breakdown structures, and reporting processes. \nIntegrate cost, schedule, and risk data to provide a coherent view of project performance and future outlook. \nIdentify efficiencies and opportunities for improvement in project execution, including optimisation of resources, schedules, and delivery approaches. \nSupport risk management activities, including identification, assessment, and tracking of project risks and mitigation actions. \nMore responsibilities can be found on the Role Profile. \n\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\nDegree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.\nExperience in project controls, cost engineering, or planning within major projects or industrial environments.\nExperience using planning and reporting tools (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, or equivalent).\nStrong understanding of cost management, forecasting, and project reporting techniques.\nExperience integrating schedule, cost, and risk information to support project delivery.\nUnderstanding of project lifecycle phases, including commissioning and Operational Readiness.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nHigh level of attention to detail and accuracy.\nStrong communication and reporting capability.\n\nBenefits\n25 days holiday plus bank holidays\nContribution towards eye test and glasses\nOnline company discount benefits site including cinema tickets and gym membership discount\nEmployee recognition scheme -
