It’s hard work, but it will be worth it.\nJoin us in building America’s mortgage rails.\nRole Overview\nPylon is building software-driven mortgage processing. Rather than scaling a traditional processing department alongside loan volume, we are building a platform that automates routine diligence, document handling, workflow progression, and coordination.\nAs Head of Processing, you will bring deep mortgage-processing expertise into that system. You will own the operating model, exceptions, controls, and domain knowledge required to help Product and Engineering automate more of the work safely and accurately over time.\nResponsibilities\nOwn processing domain expertise from submission through underwriting readiness.\n\nIdentify repetitive processing work that should be standardized, automated, or eliminated.\n\nTranslate processing workflows, edge cases, and expert judgment into product requirements and operating rules.\n\nBuild human-review queues, SLAs, escalation paths, and controls for unsupported or ambiguous cases.\n\nEstablish metrics for cycle time, manual touches, aging, exception rates, quality, and automated workflow coverage.\n\nPartner closely with Account Management, Underwriting, Product, and Engineering.\n\nDiagnose root causes behind aging, rework, bottlenecks, and automation failures.\n\nBuild training and operating systems for the human exception layer as volume grows.\n\nQualifications\nSignificant mortgage processing leadership experience at a scaled lender.\n\nStrong preference for wholesale mortgage experience.\n\nExperience operating at hundreds or thousands of loans per month.\n\nStrong analytical and operational judgment.\n\nProven ability to improve throughput, quality, cycle time, or workflow design.\n\nComfortable making implicit operational knowledge explicit enough for technical teams to encode.\n\nWhat success looks like\nPylon can materially increase monthly loan volume while the amount of routine human processing per loan declines.
