This position serves as a key business partner to the General Manager, department leaders, and ownership by providing financial guidance, analysis, and recommendations that support the hotel's overall financial performance and operational objectives.\nThe Controller ensures that all accounting functions are performed accurately and timely in accordance with Marriott brand standards, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nFinancial Management & Reporting\nOversee the hotel's daily accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, payroll accounting, and month-end closing.\nEnsure timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules.\nReview financial results and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improved financial performance.\nPrepare and present monthly financial reports and performance analysis to the General Manager and ownership.\nEnsure accurate recording and reconciliation of all hotel revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities.\nMaintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records in accordance with company policies.\nBudgeting & Forecasting\nLead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the General Manager and department heads.\nPrepare monthly forecasts, financial projections, and budget variance analyses.\nMonitor departmental expenses, labor costs, and operating performance to ensure alignment with approved budgets.\nProvide financial recommendations to department leaders to improve profitability and control expenses.\nAnalyze hotel performance indicators, including revenue, labor costs, departmental expenses, and overall profitability.\nInternal Controls & Compliance\nEstablish, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and financial resources.\nEnsure compliance with company policies, Marriott brand standards, and financial procedures.\nOversee cash handling, bank reconciliations, credit card transactions, deposits, and revenue controls.\nMonitor purchasing, expense approvals, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.\nCoordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.\nMaintain compliance with applicable tax requirements, financial regulations, and record-retention policies.\nIdentify potential financial risks and recommend corrective actions.\nAccounting Operations\nSupervise and provide direction to accounting personnel, ensuring responsibilities are completed accurately and within established deadlines.\nOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general cashier, income audit, and payroll-related accounting functions.\nReview account reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved.\nMonitor vendor payments, outstanding receivables, and collection activities.\nEnsure accurate processing and reconciliation of hotel revenue from rooms, food and beverage, banquets, parking, and other operating departments.\nOversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.\nOperational Partnership & Leadership\nPartner with the General Manager and department heads to support sound financial decision-making.\nProvide financial guidance to operational leaders regarding labor management, purchasing, inventory, and expense control.\nParticipate in leadership meetings and communicate financial results and business trends.\nPromote accountability among department heads for achieving budgetary and financial goals.\nIdentify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenses without compromising guest satisfaction or service standards.\nMaintain effective communication and working relationships with hotel leadership, associates, ownership, and corporate finance teams.\nTeam Development & Administration\nRecruit, train, coach, and develop accounting team members.\nEstablish clear performance expectations and ensure accountability within the Finance Department.\nConduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.\nEnsure the accounting team follows established policies, procedures, and deadlines.\nMaintain confidentiality of financial information, associate records, and proprietary company information.\nWhat are we looking for?\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.\nMinimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.\nPrevious experience in hotel or hospitality accounting strongly preferred.\nPrevious supervisory or management experience required.\nStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.\nExperience with hotel accounting systems and financial software.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.\nStrong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet strict financial deadlines.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious experience as a Hotel Controller, Assistant Controller, or Director of Finance.\nExperience with Marriott-branded hotels or other full-service hotel operations.\nKnowledge of Marriott financial policies, accounting procedures, and reporting requirements.\nExperience with hotel property management systems (PMS),
