This role ensures compliance with EACOP lifting procedures,\ninternational standards, and statutory regulations to guarantee safe and\nefficient lifting operations that support construction, logistics, maintenance,\nand operational activities.\nDuties &\nResponsibilities\nDevelop and review lifting plans and risk\nassessments for all critical and non-critical lifts.\nCoordinate daily lifting activities across\nfield operations including logistics yards, warehouses, PS sites, and\nmaintenance areas.\nEnsure adequate lifting equipment, cranes,\nforklifts, and rigging gear are available, inspected, and certified.\nMaintain the Lifting Operations Register and\nensure proper record keeping.\nCoordinate with contractors and\nsub-contractors to ensure lifting operations meet EACOP HSE standards.\nSupervise lifting operations to ensure\ncompliance with approved lifting plans and permits.\nEnsure lifting team members (riggers, crane\noperators, banksmen, signalers) are competent and certified.\nMonitor lifting gear and accessories are used\nto avoid overloading or unsafe practices.\nAuthorize and sign off permits for critical\nlifts.\nProvide on-site technical support during\nheavy/complex lifting operations.\nEnsure all lifting activities comply with\nEACOP HSE Management System, international standards (LOLER, BS, ISO, API,\nASME), and national regulations.\nConduct toolbox talks and pre-lift safety\nbriefings with crews.\nStop unsafe operations immediately and enforce\ncorrective actions.\nLead incident investigations related to\nlifting and hoisting activities.\nPromote lifting safety culture across field\noperations.\nEnsure all lifting appliances and accessories\nare properly inspected, tested, and certified by competent authorities.\nMaintain up-to-date lifting gear registers.\nLiaise with third-party inspection agencies\nfor statutory certifications.\nEnsure defective or expired lifting equipment\nis quarantined and removed from service.\nProvide mentoring, coaching, and refresher\ntraining for riggers, signalers, and crane operators.\nSupport local workforce development in line\nwith national content requirements.\nEnsure awareness of updated lifting procedures\namong all operational staff.\nField Logistics & Warehouse Teams\nMaintenance & Operations Teams\nContractors & Subcontractors\nCompetent always neat - practice good housekeeping.\nQualifications /\nExperience Required:\nDiploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering,\nLogistics, or related technical field.\nLifting & Rigging Certification (OPITO,\nLEEA, or equivalent) - mandatory.\n5 years in lifting operations within Oil &\nGas, Petrochemical, or Heavy Engineering industries.\nProven experience in supervising heavy and\ncomplex lifting operations (100+ tons).\nKnowledge of international lifting standards\n(LOLER, API RP 2D, BS 7121, ISO standards).\nExperience in East Africa/remote project\nenvironments (preferred).\nStrong technical knowledge of cranes,\nforklifts, lifting gear, and rigging practices.\nAbility to prepare and review detailed lifting\nplans.\nStrong leadership and supervisory skills.\nExcellent problem-solving and decision-making\nability under pressure.\nGood communication and reporting skills\n(English mandatory, Swahili/French an added advantage).\nHigh commitment to HSE standards and safe work\npractices.\nSafety-first mindset with strong integrity.\nResilient and adaptable in remote field\nenvironments.\nDetail-oriented, proactive, and accountable.\nAbility to work under pressure
