This role ensures compliance with regulations, promotes a strong safety culture, and works closely with employees and leadership to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.\n\nBasic Employee Responsibilities\nLeading by example by following established Quality, Health and Safety policies & procedures.\nShowing respect and pride for facilities and equipment.\nBeing responsible – on time for work and take breaks during designated times.\nCarrying out other tasks from time to time as assigned by a supervisor or request for assistance as needed.\nPosition Specific Responsibilities\nSupport and administer the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program for employees working at the Red Deer manufacturing plant, in accordance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations. \nServe as the primary HSE contact for manufacturing plant employees, supervisors, and site leadership. \nDevelop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices related to manufacturing operations. \nConduct regular workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for plant operations, equipment, and processes. \nInvestigate, document, and track workplace incidents, near misses, hazards, and injuries occurring within the manufacturing facility; support root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up. \nCoordinate injury and incident reporting and maintain accurate records for manufacturing plant employees. \nMaintain HSE documentation, including inspection reports, incident logs, corrective action tracking, and training records for the manufacturing facility. \nCoordinate and deliver safety orientations and required training for manufacturing employees, including new hires and site-specific refreshers. \nSupport emergency response planning and drills applicable to the manufacturing plant environment. \nParticipate in and support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety committee activities.\nMonitor and promote compliance with PPE requirements, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, chemical handling (WHMIS), and other manufacturing-specific safety controls. \nAssist with internal and external audits, inspections, and site reviews related to the manufacturing facility. \nPromote a strong safety culture by engaging directly with manufacturing employees and leadership, encouraging hazard reporting and continuous improvement. \nProvide guidance and support to supervisors and employees on safe work practices within the manufacturing environment.\n\nRequired Minimum Qualifications\nDiploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field. \n1–3 years of experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment. \nWorking knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation and standards relevant to manufacturing operations. \nExperience conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations in a manufacturing or industrial setting. \nFamiliarity with manufacturing safety practices, including machine guarding, lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, chemical handling (WHMIS), and equipment safety. \nAbility to maintain accurate safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection records, training logs, and corrective action tracking. \nProficient with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) and safety tracking systems. \nAble to work independently while supporting site leadership and contributing to a team environment with strong communication skills.\nPhysically able to perform site inspections within a manufacturing plant, including walking the floor and observing production areas.\n\nPhysical Demands\nMay be required to stand and walk for extended periods while performing site inspections or attending plant operations. \nOccasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing stairs to assess equipment, work areas, or processes. \nAbility to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally (e.g., training materials, PPE, or equipment). \nManual dexterity sufficient to operate basic office equipment and use tools or devices required for inspections (e.g., handheld devices, gauges). \nRequired to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety boots, hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, and other required safety gear while in plant areas. \nExposure to a manufacturing environment, including noise, moving machinery, temperature variations, and industrial materials. \nAbility to move safely throughout production and warehouse areas in accordance with site safety
