Our collaborative culture values curiosity, partnership, and technical excellence.\nPosition Summary:\nThe Client is seeking an experienced French-English Translator Consultant to support a short-term evaluation assignment in Madagascar. The Consultant will support real-time interpretation during qualitative data collection activities, including Key Informant Interviews (KIIs). The role requires experience working in evaluation or research contexts and the ability to accurately convey technical and project-related information.\nKey Responsibilities:\nProvide consecutive interpretation support during KIIs and other interviews with project stakeholders, regulators, private sector representatives, and other relevant actors, as needed.\nSupport the evaluation team during interviews by ensuring clear, accurate, and complete communication between interviewers and respondents.\nAssist with clarification of interview notes or review of translated content to ensure accuracy and consistency with original meanings.\nCoordinate closely with evaluation team members to ensure consistent use of terminology and alignment with evaluation objectives.\nSupport qualitative data collection activities in a professional and confidential manner.\nRequirements\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nNative or near-native fluency in French and English.\nDemonstrated experience providing written translation and oral interpretation services.\nPrior experience supporting qualitative data collection, including KIIs, interviews, or similar research activities.\nExperience translating technical, infrastructure, energy, or development-sector materials.\nStrong attention to detail and ability to accurately convey nuance and technical concepts.\nAbility to work independently under a short-term consulting arrangement.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nPrior experience on IFC-, World Bank-, AfDB-, or USG-financed projects.\nPrior experience supporting monitoring, evaluation, or research projects.\nFamiliarity with development finance, infrastructure, or energy-sector projects.\nExperience working with multidisciplinary international teams.\nREPORTING REQUIREMENTS\nThe Consultant will report to the Project Team Leader for technical direction and to the Project Manager for administrative matters.\nDURATION\nConsultancy Duration: Approximately 3 days \nBenefits\nWORKING CONDITIONS & REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:\nThe incumbent in these positions will work in the field and will utilize thefollowing equipment when working\nComputer (laptop or desktop)\nTelephone\nPrinter (Optional)\nThe physical demands and work environment that have been described is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of these positions.
