Qantas (ASX: QAN) is the flag carrier airline of Australia and one of the world's oldest continually operating aviation groups, headquartered in Mascot, Sydney. Founded in 1920 as Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited (QANTAS), the enterprise has grown into Australia's largest domestic and international airline group. The company operates a dual-brand strategy serving two primary customer segments: full-service domestic, international, and regional operations under the core Qantas brand (including QantasLink), and low-cost carrier operations under Jetstar.

We’re Jetstar. You may know us for our famous low fares, but did you also know that we’ve flown more than 400 million customers since we launched in Australia in 2004? In fact, each week we operate around 3,000 flights to nearly 40 destinations across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific. We also operate a fleet of more than 80 aircraft, including state-of-the-art Airbus A320/21 NEO aircraft and the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 787-8s. Every day we enable more people to takeoff to more places, more often.

Impressive numbers? What's even more impressive is the team of extraordinary people taking off together day in day out, flight after flight.

Our people are the real jet stars!

  • Join a supportive team that values you and strives for excellence everyday
  • Full-time, permanent positions at one of Australia’s leading ports
  • Enjoy the flexibility of shift work with a 4 on/4 off rotating roster

Ready for your next adventure?

Your new role as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) will see you delivering high-quality maintenance and rectification services while ensuring strict adherence to WHS and Quality policies and procedures. You’ll work closely with specialist teams, applying excellent engineering standards built on a foundation of safety, reliability, and service.

Reporting to the Line Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Operations Manager, you will carry out maintenance on company aircraft, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time. You’ll oversee quality control for aircraft presentation upon completion of maintenance and prior to release. Compliance with Jetstar’s Safety Management System, training, and regulatory requirements is essential. This role also requires flexibility to work at other ports, including international locations, and to build strong working relationships with contractors and external service providers.

We’re hiring for current and upcoming opportunities across multiple key locations:

  • Sydney - New South Wales
  • Brisbane - Queensland
  • Cairns - Queensland
  • Gold Coast - Queensland

We’re on the hunt for someone who:

  • Has completed a Certificate IV in Aeroskills, holds an equivalent trade qualification (preferably under CASA, EASA, CAANZ or UKCAA regulations), or is currently progressing through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in one of the following streams: Mechanical, Avionics or Structures.
  • Holds experience and/or aircraft type ratings on A320, A321 and/or B787 aircraft (desirable).
  • Has at least 5 years' post-apprenticeship maintenance experience (desirable). Ideally, in a line maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively manage workload and competing priorities.
  • Can work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Has a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Possesses strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Holds a valid driver's license and is able to obtain an Authority to Drive Airside (ADA) License.
  • Is willing and able to obtain and maintain a Qantas Group-issued ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card), including satisfying international criminal history check requirements.
  • Is willing and able to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Can commit to a shift work roster, including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Remuneration on offer: All Jetstar Engineers in Australia are paid under the Jetstar Airways Engineering & Maintenance Enterprise Agreement 2023 which can be referenced HERE.

Your life at Jetstar is unlike any other:

Live the travel dream: You and your nominated travel companions can takeoff more with our famous Qantas Group Staff Travel discount.

Make work feel like a holiday: Join a fun, driven team where work feels like a holiday. Our people take every opportunity to takeoff together and find ways to help their teammates soar.

There’s a place for everyone at Jetstar: For us, travel and meeting new people go hand in hand. We invite our people to get involved in various Employee Network Groups that play an important role in creating our inclusive and supportive culture that we are fiercely proud of. We believe that teams with a diversity of ideas and experiences are more creative, innovative and solve problems quickly. We welcome applications from anyone who wants to takeoff with us. If you have support or access requirements, just reach out and let us know what you need.

Please note that this opportunity is only available to qualified aircraft engineers/technicians that carry a trade aircraft technician qualification. While sponsorship can be considered, priority will be given to candidates with full, unrestricted work rights in Australia or New Zealand.

We’re Jetstar. Let’s takeoff together. We can’t wait to hear from you.
