- Oversee the technology that powers Jetstar’s customer-facing digital experiences
- Lead a hands-on engineering team across high-impact customer and technology platforms
- Permanent, hybrid opportunity based at Jetstar Headquarters in Docklands
We’re hiring four Engineering Managers into Digital Technology. Each role owns one part of Jetstar’s digital estate and keeps it reliable, secure and economic, so that the customer journeys built on it can ship change quickly and safely.
These are working leadership roles. You’ll lead a permanent engineering team and direct the partner engineers deployed alongside it. Technical credibility is required, and you’ll stay close to the design and the code.
In These Roles You Will:
- Own the technical direction, roadmap and sequencing for your area, within Jetstar’s engineering and architecture standards
- Own reliability, availability and performance, including incident response - triage, escalation, recovery and root cause resolution
- Own your area’s cost base - team cost, cloud, licence and vendor spend - and drive value for money over time
- Direct contracted and partner engineers alongside permanent staff, and hold partners to account for quality and productivity
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted and modern engineering practice
- Lead and develop your team, building the capability needed to meet performance expectations
The Roles:
Engineering Manager, DotRez
Reports to the Senior Manager, Digital Technology
Own Jetstar’s booking flow and the DotRez reservations platform behind it. You’ll set the target-state architecture and strategy for reservations, lead the engineering of the migration to a new reservations platform, and keep today’s platform and the core booking services around it reliable while the migration runs.
Ideally you’ll bring: airline passenger service system (PSS) or reservations experience, setting target-state architecture for a core platform, and a track record of leading a large replatform or migration with real cutover risk.
Engineering Manager, DotCom & App
Reports to the Senior Manager, Digital Technology
Own jetstar.com - everything up to the booking flow - and the Jetstar app. You’ll lead the app migration, lift web performance and resilience, and give our journey teams the platform capability they build on, working with a small permanent team alongside an offshore partner team.
Ideally you’ll bring: high-traffic consumer web at scale, native or cross-platform mobile delivery, modern frontend architecture, and day-to-day leadership of offshore partner engineers.
Engineering Manager, Payments, Identity & Memberships
Reports to the Principal Engineering Manager, CX & Resilience
Lead engineering for the path every Jetstar customer pays through, and the identity and membership capability behind it. This is the most hands-on of the four roles: you’ll carry the domain’s technical design yourself while leading a multi-year transformation that turns how Jetstar takes payments into a capability every journey can use.
Ideally you’ll bring: payments engineering (gateways, acquirers, tokenisation, reconciliation), PCI-DSS or similarly regulated systems, customer identity (CIAM, OAuth/OIDC), and experience holding payment providers to account.
Engineering Manager, Cyber & Crit 1 Uplift
Reports to the Principal Engineering Manager, CX & Resilience
Run two jobs with one team. Lead our cyber engineering squad - remediating vulnerabilities, cloud security posture and supply chain exposure, and building the pipeline gates that prevent issues in the first place. And build the incident readiness - support coverage, escalation and recovery - behind Jetstar’s most critical platforms. Much of that work lands in platforms owned by other teams, so influence matters as much as authority.
Ideally you’ll bring: DevSecOps and AppSec at scale, cloud security posture management, SRE and incident management, and working with Risk & Compliance on controls assurance.
You Will Bring:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years in software engineering, including leading an engineering team
- End-to-end ownership of a production platform or service at scale
- Reliability and incident management for customer-facing systems
- Cyber remediation and secure-by-design engineering practice
- Managing cloud, licence and vendor cost for a platform
- Directing contracted or partner engineers alongside permanent staff
- Current hands-on credibility in modern and AI-assisted engineering practice
