With more than 100 years of experience, we build quality into every fiber, letting your ideas take flight.\nQuality Engineer 1 Position Overview:\nThe Quality Engineer 1 provides technical support to production operations and helps establish the quality system definition and production inspection related activities on their assigned project. The Quality Engineer 1 has academic or vocational training and performs supervised routine work on a deployed multi-functional team to ensure the quality system meets stakeholder requirements including technical compliance, adherence to production processes and standards, and business case. Supports the production process with technical knowledge for tooling, part fabrication, assembly, and delivery. Supports implementation of \"state of the art\" processing technology as it applies to both materials and techniques for tooling, part fabrication and assembly.\nPrincipal Accountabilities:\nWorks under supervision from senior engineers and program leadership in a team environment.\nSkills should align with academic or vocational training related to process development, process control, manufacturing support and related technical activities in a production environment:\nBasic knowledgeable of manufacturing, fabrication & assembly techniques, and related standards requirements with aerospace or similar industry.\nA member of team(s) that work from engineering requirements to develop quality preventative and inspection processes & methodologies; deploys First Part Qualification (FPQ) and First Article Inspection (FAI) methods.\nSupports implementation of inspection tooling, equipment, and production planning, from original concept through to production. Supports validation of tooling functionality and or part conformity, and production part quality in timely manner to support the customer delivery schedule.\nIdentifies and supports introduction of new technology in line with the assigned Program Value Stream requirements.\nSupporting the Make vs. Buy & subsequent supplier selection process.\nAwareness of applicable business & quality processes and procedures such as FAA, DoD, Export Control, ITAR, Nadcap, AS9100 and customer contractual requirements.\nMay have limited understanding of Lean/Six Sigma Tools used to predict and improve process yield.\nMay have limited understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools to evaluate customer designs and process concepts and assist in manufacturing process down select.\nMay have limited understanding of Practical Problem-Solving techniques such as A3, 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis to determine the origin of a failure, its impact to overall business, and determine containment and countermeasure actions to eliminate recurrence of nonconformances.\nSupports senior engineers in creation Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) and associated metrics such as Product Safety, Quality (including yield, cost of poor quality, non-conformances), Delivery (completion of Quality Engineering related activities in line with the agreed schedule), Recurring and Non-Recurring Costs.\nSupports senior engineers with customer and supplier technical topics and reviews as required.\nMaintain positive team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as peers.\nOther related duties as required due to changes in business processes or customer requirements.\nExperience and Education Qualifications:\nMust be a US Citizen or a Permanent resident per ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) guidelines.\nThis position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or a foreign person per ITAR.\nBachelor of Science in a relevant field (such as mechanical, manufacturing or aerospace engineering). Candidates having significant work experience in similar roles may be considered.\nAbility to understand, communicate and present basic technical information to a limited audience.\nThe candidate will be familiar with Microsoft Office applications.\nSelf-motivated and able to proactively recognize and prioritize business needs with guidance from others.\nExperience in planning and manufacturing execution systems within aerospace fields is a plus.\nPrior experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) is preferred.\nPrior training of engineering principles & practices such as geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, model definition, tolerance analysis, and engineering bill of materials.\nFamiliarity with basic Enterprise Resource Planning processes.\nFamiliarity with Process/Product Configuration Control and Change Management.\nMust possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal.\nAn active clearance is highly preferred.
