client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a Platform Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. \nIT / FINANCE \nResponsibilities \nDesign, build and maintain scalable, secure and reliable internal developer platforms for engineering teams.\nDevelop self-service platform capabilities, APIs, automation and tools that simplify software development and deployment.\nBuild reusable platform components and abstractions that enable engineering teams to work more efficiently and independently.\nImplement and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools and established best practices.\nManage and optimise container platforms and Kubernetes environments.\nImplement and maintain GitOps workflows for application deployment and infrastructure management.\nDevelop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, testing, deployment and delivery.\nImplement monitoring, logging, metrics and distributed tracing to improve system visibility and reliability.\nTroubleshoot complex platform, infrastructure and application issues to ensure system availability and performance.\nApply cloud architecture best practices and Well-Architected Framework principles to platform design and implementation.\nCollaborate with software engineers and other technical teams to understand requirements and deliver effective platform solutions.\nEvaluate technologies, identify opportunities for automation and continuously improve platform capabilities.\nPromote platform capabilities as a product or service that meets the needs of internal engineering teams.\nQualifications & Experience \n4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, working with programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Golang or Python.\n3+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, building self-service platforms and tools for engineering teams.\n4+ years of experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.\n4+ years of experience with containerisation technologies and container platforms.\nStrong experience in building and maintaining production-grade platforms, platform APIs, automation tools and internal developer platforms.\nExpert knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CDK, Pulumi or Crossplane.\nStrong knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration and cloud-native technologies.\nExperience with Kubernetes GitOps practices and tools such as Argo CD, Flux, Helm or Kustomize.\nExperience implementing monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, CloudWatch or X-Ray.\nFamiliarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and GitLab CI/CD.\nStrong understanding of distributed systems, service architectures, cloud-native systems and their design trade-offs.\nRelevant Kubernetes or public cloud certifications, such as CKA, AWS, Azure or GCP certifications, would be advantageous.\nCompetencies \nStrong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.\nExpert technical knowledge of platform engineering, cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes.\nStrong software engineering and automation capabilities.\nAbility to design and build scalable, resilient and secure production-grade systems.\nExcellent understanding of DevOps, GitOps, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices.\nAbility to evaluate technical options and make informed architectural decisions.\nStrong focus on reliability, performance, security and operational excellence.\nA self-driven approach with the ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges.\nExcellent collaboration and communication skills when working with engineering teams and stakeholders.\nA continuous
