This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing company equipment, utility trailers, and field support assets.\nThe Equipment Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, welding, fabrication, and trailer service to help ensure our field crews have safe, reliable, and properly functioning equipment.\nThe ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, safety-focused, dependable, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced field service environment.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nEquipment Maintenance and Repair\nDiagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain vegetation management and field equipment, including:\n·Skid steers\n·Mini excavators\n·Wood chippers\n·Stump grinders\n·Brush cutters\n·Chainsaws\n·UTVs and ATVs\n·Small diesel- and gasoline-powered equipment\nConduct routine equipment inspections to identify wear, damage, and mechanical concerns before equipment failure occurs.\nPerform preventative maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations and company schedules.\nDiagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, fuel, brake, engine, and small-engine systems.\nCoordinate scheduled maintenance and repairs to minimize equipment downtime.\nRespond to equipment breakdowns and provide emergency field repairs when necessary.\nTest repaired equipment to confirm safe and proper operation before returning it to service.\nWelding and Fabrication\nPerform welding repairs on equipment, trailers, racks, attachments, and other field support assets.\nFabricate brackets, mounts, guards, tool-storage solutions, and other components as needed.\nComplete minor structural repairs on damaged equipment and trailer frames.\nInspect welded components for quality, durability, and safe operation.\nEnsure all welding and fabrication work meets QE Solar’s safety and quality standards.\nTrailer Maintenance\nInspect, maintain, and repair light- and medium-duty utility trailers.\nService and repair trailer components, including:\n·Brake systems\n·Wheel bearings\n·Axles\n·Suspension components\n·Electrical wiring and lighting systems\n·Hitches and couplers\n·Tires and wheels\nSafety chains and breakaway systems\nConduct trailer safety inspections and support compliance with applicable Department of Transportation requirements.\nIdentify trailers that require immediate repair or removal from service.\nFleet and Operational Support\nMaintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, repair logs, and service documentation.\nMonitor parts, materials, and shop supplies and communicate inventory needs to leadership.\nOrder replacement parts and coordinate with vendors when authorized.\nSupport company compliance with safety procedures and applicable DOT regulations.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work environment.\nProperly store, inspect, and maintain company tools and repair equipment.\nCommunicate equipment conditions, repair timelines, and operational concerns to field and operations leadership.\nPerform other duties as assigned based on operational needs.\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nAt least three years of mechanical repair experience involving heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, landscaping equipment, forestry equipment, agricultural equipment, or a related field.\nHands-on welding experience;
