We deliver mission-critical services and systems to Defence, national security, and essential industry.\nOur determination to deliver and improve today, and anticipate and improve tomorrow, makes QinetiQ a very exciting and rewarding place to work and learn.\nIf you're driven by purpose, passionate about solving complex problems, and ready to make a real impact - there’s never been a better time to join us.\nWith a presence in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Canada, and Germany, we bring global expertise to local challenges, helping build Australia’s sovereign industrial capability for the future.\nBased in Nowra, NSW we are excited to invite applications from qualified Technicians who will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing, repair and certification of Defence Ground Support Equipment (GSE), aircraft batteries and associated electrical and electronic support systems to ensure continued safety, operational readiness and airworthiness.\nReporting to the Program Manager (MASS), the GSE Electrical Technician plays a critical role in supporting Defence capability by ensuring GSE is available, serviceable and ready to support operational, maintenance and training requirements.\nThe opportunity\nAs GSE Electrical Technician, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:\nPerforming scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on electrically powered and electronically controlled GSE\nInspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and servicing electrical and electronic systems within GSE assets\nDiagnosing faults using approved test equipment, technical data and maintenance publications\nManaging the induction, serviceability and maintenance status of Commonwealth GSE covered by the MASS contract\nEnsuring maintenance is completed within approved schedules and equipment availability requirements\nInspecting, testing, servicing and maintaining aircraft batteries, charging systems and associated equipment\nProviding support to the on-base Maintenance Shop and Helicopter Corrosion Control Facility as required\nInterpreting technical manuals, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and maintenance instructions\nEscalating complex defects requiring engineering investigation or technical authority review\nMaintaining accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, certifications and serviceability documentation \nComplying with work health and safety, aviation safety, quality and environmental requirements\nTo be successful in the position of GSE Electrical Technician you will need to bring with you:\nA relevant qualification or recognised trade training in electrical, avionics, aviation maintenance or a related technical discipline\nExperience performing maintenance, inspection and testing of Ground Support Equipment and associated electrical or electronic systems\nKnowledge of aviation safety, maintenance and quality assurance requirements\nAbility to interpret maintenance publications, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics and work instructions\nExperience using electrical test and diagnostic equipment\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards\nEffective communication and teamwork skills\nComputer literacy and experience maintaining technical records\nNew South Wales Driver licence (Essential)\nExperience maintaining aircraft batteries and associated charging systems as well as familiarity with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) and airworthiness frameworks will be highly regarded.\nDue to the nature of the role, applicants must hold an Australian Defence security clearance, NV1 minimum or have the ability to obtain one.\nWhilst applications must be made online, confidential enquiries are welcome and may be directed to Roz Byrne, People Partner via email; \nApplications will close on 2nd November 2026\nAs the defence industry in Australia grows, it is an exciting time to join QinetiQ.
