Join us as Manufacturing Technician at our Gosport site, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.\nThe Role\n As a Manufacturing Technician, you will support the manufacture, assembly and finishing of high-quality hydrodynamic engineering models and propulsion solutions, tooling, prototypes, research models and test articles using a range of composite, metallic, polymeric and timber-based materials.\nDay-to-day, you’ll work within a multi-disciplinary engineering and manufacturing environment, you will contribute to the delivery of customer programmes through safe, efficient and high-quality manufacturing activities, supporting the production of bespoke and low-volume products to demanding quality, dimensional and schedule requirements.\nYou will work closely with engineers, designers and technical specialists to manufacture components and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing instructions.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nManufacturing, assembling and finishing composite and non-composite components in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions\nSupporting production of research models, prototypes, tooling and test articles to defined quality and dimensional requirements (includes hydrodynamic models)\nWorking with a range of materials including Glass fibre composites (GRP), Carbon fibre composites, Timber and engineered woods, Plastics and polymers and Metals\nSafely use hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery\nPreparing materials, moulds, tooling and equipment for manufacture\nCarrying out dimensional inspection and verification activities using standard measuring equipment\nEssential experience of the Manufacturing Technician:\nPractical manufacturing experience within a workshop, engineering or production environment\nWorking with composite materials and associated manufacturing processes\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing instructions and technical documentation\nUsing hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery safely and effectively\nAttention to detail and ability to work to defined tolerances and quality standards\nExperience within marine, aerospace, defence, automotive or research and development environments (desirable)\nEssential qualifications forthe Manufacturing Technician:\nOne or more of:\nAdvanced Apprenticeship in a manufacturing, engineering or technical discipline\nNVQ Level 3 in Engineering Manufacture or equivalent\nLevel 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience\nRelevant trade apprenticeship\n\nWe value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.\nThis role is 37 hours per week based at our Gosport site.\nHaslar\nOur facilities at the Haslar Marine Technology Park are state-of-the-art, including our ocean basin rotating arm, and marine towing tank, offering an unparalleled environment for testing and refining designs.
