Join us as a Maritime Structural Engineer at our Gosport site, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.\nThe Role\n As a Maritime Structural Engineer, reporting to the Senior Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design and analysis of structural and non-structural components - from their initial concept through to final production.\nDay-to-day, you'll support the design and development of ancillary equipment and complex multi-material assemblies, including the design and analysis of bolted and bonded joints, working closely with other members of the team.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nApply engineering expertise and sound judgement to solve complex problems, plan work packages, and deliver to schedule\nCollaborate with Engineering and Project Management teams to deliver work to agreed quality, cost, and timescale requirements\nDevelop technical capability within your specialist areas and mentor colleagues across the wider engineering community\nWork closely with cross-functional teams, including Safety Engineering, to deliver technical programmes effectively\nRepresent the organisation through technical presentations, customer engagements, and external forums such as conferences\nPromote safe working practices, manage project governance, identify and mitigate risks, and provide peer review support where appropriate\nEssential experience of the Maritime Structural Engineer:\nExperience designing and analysing metallic and composite structures and components\nKnowledge of detailed structural features, including holes, inserts, and casting refinement\nExpertise in static, dynamic, and fatigue analysis of composite structures\nProven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams\nProficiency in structural analysis and design tools, including FEA (ideally Abaqus), CAD software, and Tekla Structural Designer\nStrong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing techniques, structural failure analysis, and Eurocodes for structural design\nEssential qualifications for the Maritime Structural Engineer:\nDegree qualified (BSc/BEng or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline\nWe value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.\nThis role is 37 hours per week based at our Haslar site\nOur facilities at the Haslar Marine Technology Park are state-of-the-art, including our ocean basin rotating arm, and marine towing tank, offering an unparalleled environment for testing and refining designs.
