Developing and maintaining embedded software, control systems and electrical schematics and/or mechanical drawings\nConducting system/software integration, testing, troubleshooting and verification activities\nIdentifying, evaluating and mitigating risks to ensure systems are safe and compliant. Providing traceable documentation which supports the implementation of risk mitigations\nContributing to process improvements within the domain\nAttaining a higher level of Engineering Authority, working towards broadening the scope of their Engineering Authority and competency portfolio\nCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver project outcomes\nAs a suitably experienced and well- rounded engineering professional, the Mechatronics Engineer will have:\nA Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics/Robotics/Software/Electronics/Electrical)\nChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or ability to obtain\nRelevant design, programming, manufacturing and testing experience of mechatronic or robotics systems\nExperience in CAD modelling, engineering drawings and design data management\nIn-depth knowledge and experience in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, with the ability to develop, execute and evaluate test solutions for complex systems\nIn-depth knowledge and practical experience in Python and C/C++ programming within Linux-based environments and Robot Operating System, applied to the development, integration, testing and troubleshooting of robotic autonomous systems\nSound knowledge and practical experience in electronic circuit design and analysis, including schematic interpretation, fault finding, simulation and modelling to identify and resolve technical issues\nIn-depth knowledge and experience in engineering test, trial and validation activities, including the ability to analyse results, identify issues and determine appropriate solutions to achieve required outcomes\nSound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills, the ability to listen effectively to the client to understand and ‘get to the heart’ of the clients problem and the ability to identify opportunities for new work.\nDue to the nature of the role, applicants must hold an NV1 Australian Defence security clearance.\nWhilst applications must be made online, confidential enquiries are welcome and may be directed to Roz Byrne, People Partner via email; \nApplications will close on 16th November 2026\nLooking for an Employer with Benefits?\nAt QinetiQ, our competitive remuneration and benefits package supports your evolving needs throughout your career.
